Winder Construction is a Methuen fence contractor — the name on the door for chain-link, vinyl and wood fence jobs, plus deck and porch repair, across three review platforms (Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack) that combine for roughly 4.2 stars from 17-19 ratings dated 2021 to 2023. The bulk of the written record, running from early 2021 through mid-2022, describes fast turnarounds and fair prices: several homeowners say Eddie and the crew responded to inquiries within a day, gave estimates on short notice — one even on a Sunday — and finished fence and deck jobs in a couple of days, including one porch-flooring job completed in 2.5 days despite near-100-degree heat. A 2022 reviewer who'd collected four competing quotes called Winder the most reasonable and professional of the bunch. Reviewers across this period repeatedly mention thorough cleanup and courteous crews. But the record isn't uniform. A 2021 review describes nails left on the ground and gaps in the fence connections (still rated 3 stars, since the crew cleaned up and worked efficiently), and a 2022 review flagged that replacement fence posts came in a slightly different size than the originals, leaving the homeowner needing new caps. More seriously, two reviews from mid-2023 — the most recent on file — describe a job left unfinished for over a year despite repeated promises to return, including a broken deck plank the company was slow to fix and never painted as promised, and a separate account of poor communication and a refused refund. One more thing worth knowing: a related Thumbtack profile for 'Winder & Sons Construction' in nearby Windham, NH gives conflicting tenure figures for what looks like the same family fencing business — 21 years self-reported, but an About section says the father founded it in 1999 (27 years) and another blurb says 20 years — so treat any specific 'years in business' figure with some skepticism until confirmed directly. Given the strong early record alongside the serious 2023 complaints, ask pointed questions about current crew capacity and get a clear written timeline before signing on for anything beyond a small job.

Great group of guy hard working great price and amazing quality
Great guys . Did a great job on our fence and deck . Highly recommend them
They left the job unfinished and after a year (!!!) of playing cat and mouse through phone calls and messages, and multiple promises to come tomorrow and finish the job, it is still not finished. They broke one wooden plank on our deck and just left it cracked. After I sent a photo and asked to repair what they broke, the answer was what do you want, it is old wood. After a few weeks they came and fixed it but did not paint it promising to do it next week. It was last fall. Still waiting. Still being promised to come tomorrow, or this Wednesday afternoon. Lack of professionalism and utter disrespect towards a customer.
The communication has been really bad, very unprofessional. They do not want to leave us alone and do not want to give us a refund either.
Company responded to ad promptly and was very accommodating to my tight schedule. Work was completed as agreed to and within a week of posting. Respectful and quality work. Will hire for other projects
