ABT Insulation is a Wilmington energy-efficiency contractor that got its start in 2007, according to the company, as American Building Technologies — one of the first insulation-focused weatherization shops in the Northeast — and has grown since into a Mass Save program partner that also does plastering, drywall, roofing, windows, and kitchen remodeling. The core insulation work is what the bulk of its history is built on. Reviews running from 2021 through 2025 repeatedly describe crews arriving on time, explaining the scope before starting, and cleaning up when the job wrapped, mostly for Mass Save-funded attic and basement insulation. A 2022 review from a self-identified Massachusetts general contractor said they use the company for spray foam, insulation, and plaster work across all their own projects. A 2024 review described the company plaster-finishing an entire circa-1900 home, hiding structural flaws well enough to satisfy the reviewer's own finish carpenter. There's a real pattern worth knowing about, though, running alongside the praise: communication after the initial visit. In a 2026 review, a customer said the company never followed up after coming out for an estimate. In a 2022 review, a customer said the company left a paid insulation job incomplete and hung up the phone when they called to get the rest scheduled, describing the follow-through as lacking. A 2024 review described a frustrating scheduling back-and-forth for an estimate. None of these describe the same crew or the same job going wrong twice, but they span four years, so it's not a single bad day. One installation issue is also worth knowing: in a 2021 review, a customer said a hole drilled to install insulation hit a wire and knocked out power to some lights in the house. For attic or basement insulation, especially through Mass Save, ABT has a deep, mostly strong public track record — the roofing and plaster work reviews suggest real range beyond insulation too. Given the follow-up pattern in a handful of reviews, it's worth getting a firm callback commitment and a written scope before signing on, particularly for anything beyond a single-visit job.
