Cash Energy describes itself on its BBB profile as a heating oil dealer that also provides burner service. Local news has reported that Superior Plus Propane bought out Cash Energy, and a newscentermaine.com report from Scarborough said customers voiced frustration after the company closed all of its Maine and New Hampshire offices to walk-in traffic. On Google it shows 4.5 stars from 254 ratings, and the BBB grades it A+. A 2026 customer of many years said they called for a delivery with 1/8 of a tank left, that their credit card was charged before the oil was delivered, and that a neighbor had to bring diesel fuel to keep their furnace running in the meantime. A 2026 customer of over 20 years said they ran low on fuel and were told to wait 7 to 10 days for a delivery, and on calling back was quoted a fee for an emergency delivery. A 2026 customer said water was delivered mixed in with the fuel, which stopped their heat and cost $475 in furnace damages, and that the manager ignored their calls for a month and then denied responsibility. A 2025 customer of over 15 years said they were on hold for 2 hours and 19 minutes and then told delivery would take 10 days, though that customer spoke well of the customer service rep and the delivery man.

“'It's not working': Customers frustrated as Superior Plus Propane closes Maine offices”
“Customers of a propane company that recently bought up several local providers say deliveries aren't happening, leaving some with dangerous choices when the temperature dips down.”
“SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Some customers of Superior Plus Propane, which owns Downeast Energy and Cash Energy, are voicing growing frustration after the company closed all of its Maine and New Hampshire offices to walk-in traffic.”
“Cash Energy is another.”
“Superior Plus Propane has bought out Downeast Energy and Cash Energy.”
I have used Cash Energy for many years and now totally dissatisfied with the company since they were purchased by Superior Propane. I called five days ago for a delivery and explained that I only had 1/8 of a tank which I normally do not let happen. I was told they would put that on my order in hopes to get a quicker delivery. When I called yesterday to inquire about delivery, I was told it would happen today. MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED YESTERDAY AND I STILL DID NOT GET OIL DELIVERED TODAY!! As far as I’m concerned, that is a fraudulent charge since the product was not delivered. In the meantime, I had to have a neighbor bring diesel fuel to keep my furnace running. I expect to have the oil delivered tomorrow and will be looking for a new company since I can no longer depend on Cash Energy. 2/25/26 Additional Information: Thank you for your reply to my message, but that is still not enough for me to remain as a customer with Cash Energy. You suggest calling the number provided to address my concern regarding delivery and the charge to my credit card days before the oil was delivered. That is a joke because the operators answering the phones have no authority to do anything more than take information to place an order. I asked three different operators to speak with a manager or someone above them and was told there was no one above them that can be spoken with. That number for Superior Plus Propane does not go to any main office but only allows you to enter your zip code which connects to the local company operators. You may want to be looking at Google reviews and other reviews for Cash Energy and Superior Plus Propane to see that many people are dissatisfied with both and turning to other Delivery companies. I finally did get my oil today and that will be the last delivery from your company!
Customer for over 20 years. Ran low on fuel and called for a delivery. I was told 7-10 days wait. I told them I would never make a week to 10 days. I asked them what happens when I run out and if I can call them for an emergency delivery. On the first phone call they told me no 7 to 10 days and nothing else. When I called back and asked again they quoted me $250 for an emergency delivery. They said their trucks were not on the road on this particular Monday after a storm. Some of my friends called and told me they saw their trucks and they were delivering. I felt targeted for calling 3 times and then bullied with the emergency delivery fee to make me go away. That is exactly what I intend to do. I will not be going back to cash energy ( aka Superior Propane), I have picked up a new delivery service.
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY** -They delivered water mixed in with their fuel to my tank, causing my heat to stop working entirely, causing me to pay $475 in damages to my furnace. This was a week before Christmas. I had my furnace guy look at it and he said it’s not uncommon for this to happen, but the manager Sean ignored my calls for a month straight, and then denied responsibility for the matter. I asked for the credit back and he offered $100 for me to drop the issue. I will be taking this further.
I will never use this company again. I was a loyal customer of over 15 years. I recently called for oil. I was on hold for 2 hours and 19 minutes. When I finally was able to connect to representitive, I was told I'd have to wait 10 days for delivery. This is poor service all around. I will say, the customer service rep (after over two hours on hold) was very nice and the delivery man so great as well. It's the management of the Superior Energy (who now owns Cash energy) that seems over it's head.
