Frederick Brothers Oil & Propane is a Scarborough fuel dealer that says it has served communities from Alfred to Yarmouth for over 70 years. Its BBB profile says it sells home heating fuel, kerosene, diesel and propane, offers heating installations and conversions, specializes in direct vent heating and is an authorized dealer of Monitor, Rinnai and Toyotomi. On the delivery side, customers are happy. Two October 2026 Google reviewers praised the people who answer the phone and the delivery crew, one of them a long-time customer and the other a new K1 and propane customer. A July 2026 reviewer called it easy to do business with and said the prices were good. On Reddit, a December 2025 commenter called them very straight up people to deal with, a January 2025 commenter said they had the best price that commenter found, and in December 2023 two commenters said they had switched over from Dead River and been happy since. The service department draws the sharpest complaints. A May 2026 reviewer said a no-heat call ended with three weeks without heat and a $3,000 bill, that no one was transparent about cost or timing, and that the service department could not be reached. A September 2026 reviewer who had never been a customer said the company came to do a gas check, disconnected and locked out their propane tanks without telling them, and later removed the tanks with propane still in them; the same account appears on BBB. It holds 4.3 stars from 112 Google ratings and an A+ BBB grade.

Came to my home to do Gas Check. Never did business with Frederick Brothers. Never had a Gas Leak in my home . At the time before there gas check I was operating 5 Gas Unit in my home. Frederick Brothers disconnected Propane Tanks & Locked Out the Tanks without Informing Me ~ They did so.👎 Came to my home a Second Time & Removed the Propane Tanks with My Propane in the Tanks. Wish Frederick Brothers never stepped foot on my property.🤑

Had a no heat call then ended with no heat for three weeks and a 3,000 dollar bill. If you try to get ahold of the service department you won’t be able to. The only person that you can reach is Heidi, who is there full time debt collector due to them scamming so many people. I have two local businesses and will promise them that I will do anything in my power to encourage people to use someone else. Told them that no one was transparent about the cost of anything and the time I would be without heat. Let them know I would be willing to pay cost but I would never let a company profit off doing bad business. Asked to have the manager of the place call me but was told they are too busy.
