Several companies told a Boston homeowner in 2021 that their old floors would have to be ripped up and replaced. Celtic FloorCraft refinished them instead. A 2022 customer in an 1800s house wrote much the same thing: they thought they needed new flooring, and Martin told them refinishing would do it. Celtic FloorCraft is Martin's crew, working Boston. The site says the company has been at this since 1996, doing hardwood refinishing and installation across a range of wood species, with Martin handling the visits and the estimates himself. Old houses are where the work gets interesting. In a July 2026 review, a customer had the wood floors of an 1890 home restored and repaired. An October 2023 customer with a 130-year-old house had hidden floors that were rough: the crew patched multiple problem areas and tracked down reclaimed lumber to match. A March 2024 customer had 70-year-old boards brought back and blended with the different wood a previous owner had added, and in a July 2025 review a long-time client described matching the colour of an old floor to a newer one, sample after sample. The estimates are the other thing customers keep writing about. An August 2023 customer said the final cost was identical to the estimate, with no surprises. A July 2023 customer put it more bluntly: they had never worked with a contractor so accurate with an estimate, and the job held to schedule and budget. A May 2024 customer on a tight timeline had Martin delivering floors the day after they closed on the house. Damage does not seem to faze the crew. An August 2025 landlord described tenants who left deep, sharp gouges — like ice skating on the hardwood, they wrote — and called Martin a miracle worker. An October 2023 customer had 20 years of dog damage refinished away with the stain colour matched. A July 2024 customer with century-old pine came home after three days braced for a mess and found almost nothing to clean up. For old Boston floors — pine or oak, gouged, patched, or still hidden under carpet — this is a shop that will tell you whether refinishing will do before selling you a replacement. Get on the calendar early if you want the work done in summer; a July 2025 customer had to be fitted into an already busy season. And ask to see the stain samples before the sanders come out.
