A customer who had wall insulation added to the outside of their house wrote in July 2026 that Mass Save paid for 75% of it. That is the shape of most of Clean Tech Construction's work — attics, knee walls, basements and crawl spaces, air sealing, and the paperwork of a state energy upgrade. The Braintree company does insulation, air sealing and ductless mini-split installation, and says on its own site that it is not a remodeler or a builder. Massachusetts registers home improvement contractor licence 212828 to Clean Tech Construction, and it is active. The state's Supplier Diversity Office also certifies the company as a Minority Business Enterprise, certificate 20240583. The site says Bill Davidson and Joel Perez started it. Two things run through what customers write: the crews get named, and they clean up. In a November 2025 review, Tiago, Everton and Walter finished a house in two days and left the inside and the outside in good order. A September 2025 customer had an attic insulated without the crew waking a baby down the hall, and they checked the driveway for nails before leaving. A dozen reviewers make a point of the cleanup — drop cloths, floor protection on finished surfaces, old insulation pulled out and taken away. In an August 2025 review, the crew ran a blower door test before and after the work. Three customers describe the opposite. In a May 2024 review, a homeowner said workers left cigarettes and nails around the driveway and yard and kept doing it after being asked to stop. An October 2024 reviewer said a crew tried to put insulation into a basement full of leaves and that the supervisor treated them as the problem. In April 2025, a homeowner whose job came through RISE Engineering described mistakes, a failure to clean up and a breakdown in communication among the company's own staff. A February 2026 customer hit a snag too, but said Bill addressed it promptly. One more thing to ask about directly: the company's own pages cannot agree on its age. The About page is headed "Making Homes Energy Efficient Since 2005" and claims "25 years Of Experience", then says Bill Davidson and Joel Perez started Clean Tech over four years ago after 25 years in the installations business, while the contact page says 35 years. If a Mass Save assessment is sending an insulation contractor your way, this is a crew with a long run of attics, knee walls and crawl spaces behind it. Settle who the lead on site will be, what cleanup looks like at the end of each day, and how long the company itself has actually been operating.
