Dyer Electrical Company is a Hyannis lighting showroom and electrical contractor; its site describes a full-service Cape Cod lighting and electrical contracting showroom and says it has been in business 116 years, serving towns including Dennis, Yarmouth, Mashpee, Falmouth, Sandwich and Barnstable. BuildZoom lists Master Electrician licence #6231 and electrical business licence #2107, and the BBB lists licence A6231. Many of its customers come for lamps and fixtures as much as for wiring. Several reviews name Walter: in a March 2025 review a customer said he rewired three lights, matching the fixtures on an old bronze lamp, and in an April 2025 review a customer said he was patient while they chose a floor lamp and that the shop carries bulbs, switches and lampshades. A February 2025 customer who has worked with him for years said the installs come out clean and on time, and a December 2025 customer described more than 30 years of reasonable pricing and quality workmanship. In a 2022 review, a homeowner with an outage in a 1960s house said the company helped diagnose a GFCI problem over the phone. The most recent review is a complaint: in June 2026 a customer said Dyer had an old lamp for a month for rewiring with repeated excuses, including "waiting for wire".
Wanted to get an old lamp rewired. Dyer had it for a month, kept getting all sorts of excuses. "Waiting for wire"! Don't waist your time with Dyer.
I have enjoyed working with this longstanding local business for lighting supplies and electrical contracting for over 30 years. They consistently offer reasonable pricing, quality workmanship, and practical guidance when it’s needed. I also appreciate doing business with a business that also reciprocates with my local insurance business for many years too. Supporting a business such as this also helps to keep our local community strong.
Walter was super helpful and patient while we chose a floor lamp. They can order from many different companies. Prices are reasonable. It's also a great place to pick up light bulbs, switches, lampshades, etc. They had a fan switch and a light bulb for an oddshaped lamp that we needed - you won't find things like this, or this level of customer service, at a big box store.
Dyer has rewired three lights for me. Walter did a fantastic job! The first lamp was old bronze and he matched the fixtures perfectly. He also rewired my sister’s favorite hanging turkish light and it is stunning! Thanks so much, Walter!
