One line from a February 2024 review says a lot about how Falmouth Solar wins jobs: a homeowner called four solar companies, two showed up, and Paul was the only one who climbed onto the roof to measure and check for shade. He got the job. The company is Paul J Sutton's — founder and president by its own account, and named as manager on its BBB page. The site says Falmouth Solar has worked Cape Cod for 17 years, starting after Sutton's Falmouth carpentry business and renewable-energy training, and lists a stack of coursework behind that: photovoltaic, solar thermal and small wind turbine technology at Cape Cod Community College, a Heat Springs Institute PV installation certification, OSHA 10, RREPA lead certification and HILTI/Ramset licenses. The work itself is residential and small-commercial photovoltaic systems, battery backup, ductless heat pumps, and custom multi-fuel microgrids. The reviews from February 2024 circle two themes. One is the installs going smoothly — customers that month described the process as fast, professional, and cleanly finished. The other is the sales conversation: one customer said they chose Falmouth Solar for American-made panels and because the company walked them through the Inflation Reduction Act credit stacking on top of state credits and net metering; another said they shopped and compared widely and the price was right. On licensing, two things are worth separating. The Massachusetts construction supervisor licence CS-105359, held by Steven J Hopwood, is active in the state registry. The company's own Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 186626 in the name of Falmouth Solar, LLC, is registry-verified expired — worth asking about directly, since an HIC registration is what backs a homeowner's access to the state's Guaranty Fund. The company's website also lists construction supervisor and home improvement numbers for Joshua M Kearns and for Steve J Hopwood; those are the company's own statements, not something confirmed against the registry. The written history is the other thing to weigh. Six reviews, all posted within about eight days in February 2024, all five stars — while Google's own average across seven ratings sits at 4.4, meaning something less enthusiastic exists that nobody wrote down. Its BBB page carries an A+ grade, though the business is not BBB accredited. For a Cape Cod homeowner wanting PV with battery or a heat-pump pairing from a small local outfit, the 2024 accounts describe a careful site visit and a smooth install. Before signing, confirm where the HIC registration stands and which licensed individual is supervising your job.
Paul and his team were awesome. Super easy, professional, fast, and it was perfectly installed. Here’s to not paying for electricity!
we went with falmouth solar because we liked that they use American made panels. and they told us about the new inflation reduction act with gives us an additional 10% income tax credit. this means a total of 40% credit plus the credits from the state and from net metering. with the rising cost of electricity we have been paying this was a no-brainer deal! thanks for a good deal, and a great looking installation for the house in Mashpee.
I called a few solar companies. 2 out of 4 showed up. Paul was the only one to actually go on the roof to measure and check for shade. He got the job. Professional at all steps
Falmouth Solar was great to work with. They did a great job answering all my questions, and the price was right. We did lots of shopping and comparing. Good job!
