The heating quit on New Year's Day. The customer searched, called several companies, picked Greater Boston HVAC, talked it through with Alex, and an hour later he was at their apartment with the system open. That January 2024 account says most of what there is to say about how this Newton company works: you talk to the owner, and the owner comes out. Alex — Alexander Yashaev, the company's president — runs it himself. The website says it has served Boston since 2000 and puts his time in the trade past 23 years; the BBB records the corporation as formed in December 2012 and lists 13 years in business, and Angi's page says 14 years of experience. The BBB grades it A+, though the company is not BBB-accredited. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show a 5.0 from five ratings, with Spanish spoken and free estimates. Customers describe diagnosis that lands the first time. In August 2025 one said the service call got to the bottom of the problem quickly and fixed it on the spot. In June 2024 another called him honest and said the repair took no time at all. In September 2023 a customer said his was the only company that returned their call, that everything was explained in detail, and that the AC and heat went in on time and clean; a second September 2023 customer said Alex helped them choose the right unit for the house, priced it fairly and left a tidy install. Back in February 2017, a neighbor's recommendation brought him out to a heating failure quickly. Two things to check before booking. The Angi and HomeAdvisor pages say in their FAQ that no emergency service and no warranties are offered, which sits oddly next to that New Year's Day call — so ask directly what happens if your heat fails on a holiday, and get the parts-and-labor warranty in writing. And the licence numbers here come from a BuildZoom listing rather than a registry check, so ask Alex for his numbers and look them up on the state registry yourself before the work starts. For a furnace or air-conditioning repair, or a replacement where you want the owner choosing the equipment and doing the install, Greater Boston HVAC is a reasonable call. Get the quote, the warranty terms and the licence numbers on paper first.
Helped troubleshoot and resolve a problem with my HVAC system through a service call. They were responsive, got to the bottom of the issue quickly, and resolved it on the spot.
An honest person who fixed the problem in no time! This is the kind of people America needs.
My heating stopped working on New Years Day. I went online in search of a Hvac repair service after searching multiple companies I chose Greater Boston HVAC. I called and spoke to Alex and discussed my problem. One hour later he arrived at my apartment, Alex checked system and found problem, water was building up at bottom of furnace luckily it was caught in time if not it would have damaged apartment ceiling below me. I Needed motor replaced luckily I have a portable heater because replacement part took a couple of days. Alex is now on speed dial. Highly recommend him. Thank you again Alex I highly recommend your company to everyone!!!
The only company who returned my call, explained all in details and was able to install AC/Heat in the timely manner. Organized, attention to detail, clean. I highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone!
Great quality for a great price. Alex was very responsive and fair with his pricing. He helped me choose the right unit for my house and did a good clean job installing the new system. My wife and I are very happy with the results.
