Grusby Woodworks is a Newton-based custom cabinetry shop — kitchens, bathroom vanities, built-ins, closets — with a workshop in Stow, and the whole written record, dated 2018 to 2021 on Houzz, comes back to one word: meticulous. Houzz shows a 5.0-star average across 30 reviews. The five quoted here tell a consistent story: a 2020 review called the kitchen cabinets "top notch" and "a very good value," praising the attention to detail; a 2021 review said new built-in shelves, cabinets, and a mantle came out "timely, meticulous, and neat"; and a 2019 review said kitchen cabinets and master bath vanities "exceeded expectations." A 2018 review specifically credited the shop for listening carefully and adapting a design to a small, awkwardly shaped kitchen. None of the five quoted reviews carries any complaint. The work has also drawn outside recognition: the Boston Globe (2023) credited Grusby Woodworks by name for kitchen and pantry cabinets, and Boston Magazine (2023) named the shop as the woodworker behind a Gothic Revival home's renovation in Newton; a 2026 design blog post separately praised a set of custom painted cabinets with a hidden walnut interior. Houzz also lists an EPA Lead-Safe Renovator certification, several Best of Houzz wins from 2014-2018, and a 2014 Newton Preservation Award. Houzz's own listing shows CSDL and HIC licence credentials for the company, though those are the directory's claim rather than a verified state registration. The company's own site says it favors sustainable materials and keeps design and installation with the same people throughout a project. There's nothing negative on file to flag. The one thing worth confirming directly is current pricing and lead times, since nothing here documents present-day availability. For a custom cabinetry or built-in project — a kitchen, a vanity, a mantle, a closet — where continuity between design and installation matters, this is a small, well-corroborated, consistently praised operation.

Scott recently completed the fabrication and installation of new built in shelves, cabinets and mantle in our living room. From our first conversation he listened to our vision and offered thoughtful suggestions and ideas to bring our project to life. His work is timely, meticulous, and neat, and his recommendations were spot on. Would recommend his work without reservation.
Scott built custom cabinets for my kitchen. I recommend him highly, without any reservation. His work in top notch - very high quality and I think a very good "value" for money. He has attention to detail, which is necessary for this type of carpentry, and he has a very strong artistic eye. He is also fabulous to work with - listens very carefully, provides feedback when appropriate, and is just a nice guy. Finally, he not only built, but he meticulously installed the cabinets, ensuring that everything was perfect. We are thrilled with the kitchen, thanks to Scott.
Scott and his team helped to create a stunning kitchen for us. We couldn't have been happier with his work - his attention to detail and finish were superb and he is truly a master craftsman and a rare find. I absolutely loved working with him. He truly has the clients best interests in mind throughout the process, and works with you to get to the best possible outcome. He also partnered extremely well with my builders and my architect and was a consummate professional throughout. I have recommended Scott to a number of friends and can't speak highly enough of his work. Those who have been to our house and seen the finished product have been equally wowed.
Our kitchen cabinets and master bath vanities exceeded our expectations (which were high to start with). The work is beautiful, and we very much appreciated Scott’s attention to detail and responsiveness and follow up. Very highly recommended!!
I can’t recommend Scott highly enough! When I was looking for someone to design kitchen cabinetry for my kitchen renovation scott was most helpful . I am a local realtor in the Boston area, and Scott came to me as a referral from a past buyer. My kitchen & my home are not large but Scott had a wonderful eye, a great taste level & knew exactly the look I was trying to achieve. His quality of work is impeccable & I trusted him completely. He has a wonderful demeanor ... important during a project like this ..& I would hire him again in a second!
