The company says Jim Halliday started it in 1989 after arriving on the Cape and reports 37 years in business; he is owner and president, with Kristen Halliday Diotte as general manager and Jimmy Halliday as project manager. Its Better Business Bureau profile lists ten employees. The volume sits in the permit history: BuildZoom shows 116 permitted projects for the company. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #100548, is active on the state registry. Design press has picked up the work. A 2024 Modern Luxury piece described a Halliday-built home as traditional New England vernacular in stone and brick, and a 2025 Boston Design Guide project credit lists the company as builder alongside Catalano Architects and interior designer Liz Caan & Co. The homeowners who wrote reviews in 2023 and 2024 talk about the relationship as much as the house. One, in August 2023, said the family built their dream home and guided them with years of experience, and that they became friends along the way; another, writing in January 2024, said you cannot do better for building or renovating a home. For a custom build or a gut renovation on the Cape or the South Shore, particularly on a coastal lot with complications, this is a builder used to working alongside an outside architect and designer. Ask which of those permitted projects come closest to yours in size and site, and settle the schedule and the allowance structure before signing.
