Customers write about Izzy by name, the owner turning up himself, on jobs running from a leaking garbage disposal to a sewer line replacement. The company's site lists plumbing repair, fixture installation, water heaters, heating repair and maintenance, boilers, furnaces and gas fittings. Water heaters and hot water tanks turn up in several of the Google reviews. In a March 2026 review, a homeowner whose boiler had filled with water describes him finding the problem and then installing a water heater and a sump pump, arriving on time and at a price the customer called reasonable. A July 2025 customer had a faulty hot water tank replaced and wrote that Izzy also noticed a damaged Gallon Hydronic Expansion Tank during the inspection and replaced that as well. In November 2025, another homeowner had a water heater, a sink and a shower faucet replaced and said the work went quickly. The renovation work is there too. A Somerville homeowner wrote in February 2025 about the plumbing for a bathroom renovation plus a new toe-kick heating unit and several smaller tasks; an August 2024 customer had him run the plumbing for two shower renovations, the second with a valve controlling a rain shower, a regular shower head and a wand. If your problem is a unit that won't fire, ask what he checked before agreeing to a replacement, and confirm what the quoted price covers in parts.
I had this company come out a little over two years ago because my water heater wasn’t igniting. After only a brief visual inspection, they told me I needed to replace the entire unit. They did not attempt any troubleshooting, including something as basic as trying to reset it. After they left, I did my own research, watched a few videos, and learned how to relight/reset the water heater myself. It started working again with no major issues. While the ignition has occasionally gone out during extremely cold and windy winter days, I’ve been able to reset it easily each time. More than two years later, the same water heater is still working. Based on my experience, I was disappointed that replacement was recommended so quickly without any meaningful effort to diagnose or fix the problem first. I expected a more thorough assessment before being told such an expensive repair was necessary.
