The company says it has 20 years behind it and works across eastern and central Massachusetts and New Hampshire, naming Chelmsford, Lowell, Lawrence, Methuen, Dracut, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, Westford, Pepperell and Nashua. The scope it advertises is wide for a one-person shop: single-family, multi-family, condo, mobile-home, commercial and new-construction inspections, FHA 203K consulting as a HUD-approved consultant and inspector, plus termite and radon testing. New Hampshire's registry lists home inspector licence 00209 as active under the holder name John R Bovill; the Massachusetts licence #331 appears on the company's own site. What homeowners have written is small and split. In July 2026 a client wrote that he ripped the insulation off the walls during the inspection and called the hot water tank and the oil tank no good when, by that client's account, both worked fine and the oil tank had been inspected in February. In December 2022 another client wrote that John gave their family a wonderful inspection experience from start to finish and recommended him strongly. Google's own average sits at 4.2 stars from five ratings, higher than those two written accounts alone would suggest, so most people who rated him left no words. The Better Business Bureau, which opened his file in 2018, grades the business A+ and lists no complaints and no government actions against it, while noting it is not accredited and has one employee. He is a plausible call for a buyer around Lowell and Chelmsford who wants a licensed one-person inspector and may need 203K rehab-loan paperwork. Before booking, ask how condition calls are documented and photographed in the report, what happens if a call is disputed afterwards, and what he does to protect insulation and finishes while opening things up.
