KEP Construction is Adam Kepczynski's shop, and the one full account of his work that anyone has written is a good one — from 2015. A Cambridge homeowner writing in September 2015 described a gut remodel of their master bathroom plus a new first-floor three-quarter bath in a Victorian, with Adam working the design through with them directly and, in their words, never defensive when something needed sorting out. What has come since is harder to read. Its Google page averages 2 stars across 4 ratings. Two of those carry text: a one-star "Horrible service" posted in July 2025 and a five-star "Solid company" from January 2024, each about that long. A 2-star average is a low one, and on four ratings it is also a fragile one. The credentials and the permit trail are firmer ground. Massachusetts registry records show home improvement contractor registration #187927 active in the name KEP Construction, Inc. BuildZoom's permit history lists eight permitted projects between 2014 and 2023 — mostly Cambridge kitchen and bathroom renovations, plus a $570,654 Brookline addition and a $402,500 renovation of two Somerville apartments. That lines up with how the company sells itself: kitchens and baths first, bigger construction when it comes. Two things to settle before calling. The addresses do not agree — the Houzz profile shows only a bare "Boston, MA 02101", while the permit records put the company at 170 Rhoda Street in Quincy — so confirm where they actually operate from and who will be running your site. And because the recent star ratings carry almost no explanation, ask for two or three references from jobs finished in the last year, and call them. Best fit: a Cambridge, Brookline or Somerville kitchen or bath renovation where you want the owner himself running the job. The registration is real and the permit record is specific; the recent customer record is the part you will have to check yourself.
Horrible service
Solid company
We hired Adam and his team to gut-remodel our master bathroom and add a new 3/4 bath to the 1st floor of our Victorian house in Cambridge. Adam (as the GC) worked directly with us (homeowners) to improve our design and his thoughtfulness showed in every step of the way. Adam has a ton of experience and has worked architects before, so he was very helpful in guiding us on what to include or skip. His team helped create the bathroom and shower of our dreams, one that is classic looking (befitting a Victorian house) and yet modern and inviting. Adam is fair and reasonable, and never defensive when it comes to handling potential conflicts. We would love to hire Adam again to redo our kitchen. If only he weren't so busy!
