Victor Morton has been setting tile out of New Bedford since 1999 — 27 years at it, and by the Better Business Bureau's listing the business is a sole proprietorship with one employee. His own site calls it owner-operated, so the man who quotes the job is the man who sets the tile. The work runs the range of tile: ceramic, non-ceramic, glass and vinyl composite, laid for kitchen backsplashes and countertops, shower stalls, and floors and mud work. The site adds porcelain and granite, and fireplace installations alongside floors and showers. Its Better Business Bureau grade is an A+. Morton Tile says it works southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, naming Marion, Mattapoisett, Plymouth, Duxbury, Marshfield and Falmouth among the towns it covers. With one pair of hands on the job, timing is the thing to nail down: ask when he can start and how long the room will be out of use. For a shower or a mud-work floor, have the substrate and waterproofing spelled out in the quote, and ask for a certificate of insurance and a recent local job you can go and look at.
