Muto Construction

A $20 fix instead of a $15,000 roof: in a February 2026 review, a homeowner said another company quoted a new roof for a basement leak, while Ovid Figueroa from Muto climbed through the attic, found the roof watertight and kept looking until he traced the leak to a cracked ice-maker water tube. Muto Construction is a Harwich roofing and exterior company that also takes on siding, windows, decks, renovations, additions and new homes across Cape Cod. The company says it was founded in 2007 in Harwich, is owned and operated by Jasen Muto, and is family-owned. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#183111) is active, and the BBB grades it A+. Google shows 4.9 stars from 53 ratings. Roofs are most of what customers describe. Reviews from 2022 through 2025 cover asphalt roof replacements, a Cedur artificial shake roof chosen after quotes from five roofers (June 2024), skylights, gutters and roofs finished in a single day. A February 2024 reviewer managed a summer-cottage roof replacement from 400 miles away. Cleanup comes up in many reviews, along with named contacts such as Ovid, Dillon and project manager James. A May 2026 reviewer said the estimate was detailed and specific, and a September 2025 reviewer said Ovid produced a complete estimate with siding samples within minutes. A May 2026 customer described a roof and skylights in 2023, then new siding and two decks in 2025. The complaints are specific. In a September 2025 review (3 stars), a couple who bought a metal roof said spray foam insulation came through cracks into a bedroom and closets, that they spent days removing it, that the roof was closed up before they felt the insulation was finished, and that the crew scratched the panels' protective coating. They said they sent photos in June, two reminders went unanswered, and the workmanship warranty Muto added had yet to be honored. They also said Muto replaced four foam-sprayed screens and fixed interior ceiling damage at no charge, and they still called Muto a possible choice for asphalt or shingled roofs. A May 2026 reviewer (2 stars) called the job very pricey and said the company was unable to break down the cost of the window vs installation.
