Muto Construction works out of South Harwich and covers Cape Cod, and while its Better Business Bureau listing runs the full general-contracting menu — custom homes, additions, kitchens, baths, framing, flooring — what homeowners actually write about is stripping a roof and putting a new one on, usually in a day or two, often with skylights.
On Google the company sits at 4.9 across 53 ratings, and seven reviews landed in the last six months with no negative one among them. Two threads run through them: punctuality and cleanup. A 2025 customer noted the crew replaced a window screen they had damaged at no charge; another that July wrote there were no nails left on the ground when they finished.
Estimates get their own share of attention. A 2022 homeowner compared four other quotes and chose Muto for one that laid out product tiers against budget, and a May 2026 reviewer described the estimate as detailed and thorough before any work started. In February 2026 a homeowner wrote that a Muto estimator climbed through their attic, concluded the roof was watertight, and traced the leak to a cracked ice-maker line — a $20 fix instead of the $15,000 roof another company had quoted.
Two things are worth raising. In September 2025 a customer who hired them for a metal roof and spray-foam insulation described foam coming through into a bedroom and closets, insulation they believed fell short of code, scratches in the roof panels' protective coating, and a workmanship warranty that had not been honored by the time they wrote — while still crediting the crews' long days and the free repairs to interior damage. That same account is the only review on BuildZoom, which is why the two sites' averages look so far apart. Separately, a May 2026 reviewer found the price high and couldn't get the window cost separated from the installation cost.
On licensing, BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence and a home improvement contractor registration for the company, and also shows an older home improvement registration as inactive, noting it was at one point cancelled. Those are a directory's records rather than the state's — confirm the current status with Massachusetts before signing anything.
If your job is an asphalt or cedar roof, siding, or skylights on the Lower Cape, this is a deep and consistent history to hire against. For a metal roof, insulation work, or anything below the roofline, ask to see photos of completed jobs of that exact type and get the warranty terms in writing.

The process of getting an estimate was painless and pleasant. The estimate was/is detailed, specific, and thorough. This seems like a very good business to deal with.
In 2023, we noticed a leak in our upstairs ceiling. Muto Construction was suggested by someone we trusted. They made recommendations and offered to repair the area however we opted for full roof replacement with new skylights.
Then in 2025, we noticed our clapboard siding was looking very worn, thanks to some rambunctious woodpeckers. We also had concerns that the large holes they were making might make a way for other critters to get in. One side was worse than the other but again, we opted to re-side the entire house. In addition, we replaced a rear deck and a small side entry deck.
In both situations, the Muto team came to our house and presented options at reasonable costs. In both cases the crew arrived and were professional, courteous, and hard working. They explained what they were doing and why and addressed every issue. They arrived on time every day and cleanup was 100%.
My experience with them was great from beginning to end. They were a pleasure to work with, and their workmanship was high quality. I highly recommend them and would absolutely use their services again.
We’ve used Muto on the past (excellent work) and reached out again to discuss another project. We haven’t moved forward with this one since we’re still unsure of what we really want.
