Newcomb Builders of Mechanic Falls is called mostly for roofs. A 2024 Google customer said Richard Newcomb and his crew installed a new metal roof in two days. A 2025 Angi customer said they did the roof and built an addition, and kept the site clean and tidy for the whole job. A 2025 Angi customer wrote that they hired the company to dispose of old shingles and replace the roof with new shingles. A 2024 HomeAdvisor customer said they climbed on the roof when the estimate was performed and were on time. In a 2023 Angi review, a customer said the work took a bit longer than Richard thought. A 2026 Google customer said the family paid Richard Newcomb in full to replace a roof after he promised to return the following day to complete the remaining work, and he never returned. That customer said that nearly a year later the fascia still has not been installed, the roof leaks, and repeated attempts to contact him have gone unanswered. Angi shows 5.0 stars from 9 ratings and HomeAdvisor 5.0 stars from 6, while Google shows 3 stars from 2 ratings.
★☆☆☆☆ I cannot recommend Newcomb Builders. My family hired Richard Newcomb to replace a roof and paid him in full after he promised to return the following day to complete the remaining work. He never returned. Nearly a year later, the fascia still has not been installed, the roof leaks, and repeated attempts to contact him have gone unanswered. We gave him every opportunity to make this right privately before posting this review. Phone calls were made, messages were left, and reasonable efforts were made to resolve the situation without involving others. Those efforts were ignored. A contractor’s reputation is not built when things go smoothly. It is built by how they respond when there is a problem. In our experience, Newcomb Builders accepted full payment, left the project unfinished, failed to correct defective work, and failed to communicate afterward. Homeowners spend thousands of dollars expecting a safe, properly completed roof over their heads. Based on our experience, Newcomb Builders did not deliver what was promised and did not stand behind the work after being paid. I hope no other homeowner has the same experience. Do not do business with this person or any company he represents.
Newcomb Builders replaced my roof, they were fast and neat. They do great quality work and I'm recommending them to all my friends and family. I will be using them for my future quality projects in the future.
I hired Newcomb Builders to dispose of my old shingles and replace my roof with new shingles. Richard and his crew were very professional, and my roof came out amazing! I would recommend them 100% from start to finish, they did an excellent job!
Richard and his crew did an amazing job on my roof and stand behind their work. I am confident if I call with any issues they will be there for me.
Newcomb Builders is highly recommended, they were extremely professional and efficient. Newcomb Builders left me without a doubt confident in the work they provided and I will be reaching out to them for any future projects!
