Nickerson Home Improvement works out of Hyannis Port, taking on additions, dormers, second stories, decks, roofing, siding, windows, and kitchen and bath work across Cape Cod — that is the company's own service list on Houzz. Town building departments have logged roughly 209 permits pulled under its name since around 2017, spread across towns from Harwich to Provincetown, pointing to real ongoing volume of work. What's harder to find is anyone vouching for that work. In a December 2023 Google review, a homeowner described a year-long wait for Nickerson to finish replacing their windows, with roof shingles installed over a bay window that didn't match the rest of the roof because the right ones weren't in stock locally — the customer says repeated calls, texts and emails got no resolution. Google shows a 4★ average from just two ratings, but that one written account is the only review text behind either number. Before booking, it's worth asking directly about the company's contractor registration: BuildZoom's most recent check of Massachusetts's records, in July 2026, found the General Contractor license (#120424) revoked, and lists two more Home Improvement Contractor numbers (#144477, #133851) as inactive. Confirm current licensing and insurance yourself, and ask for recent references — despite the permit volume, almost no customer feedback is on record anywhere.

We had Nickerson replace the windows in our home a year ago, we are still waiting on them to finish the job. The shingles put over the bay window do not match the ones on our roof because they were not availible at the little Hyannis Home Depot but were availible at the Wareham store at the time of installation which took place months after contract was made to do the work. I have pointed this out to the company by phone, text and email, over the last year. The response (email which I still have) was for me to go to the Wareham store and purchase them myself at which time they would replace the shingles with the correct color. Well, I made the trip to Wareham HD purchased the shingles and pack of hip/ridge. Since then I have called and left several messages with an employee who said they would deliver the message and even confirmed the email about them replacing the shingles. I have had no call back or email about completing the work. The balance has been paid in full a year ago and I am not happy. Furthermore my wife is not happy that the new windows are hard to close all the way making it difficult for her to lock. Very sad because I want to support our hardworking local contractors and did like the attitude and work ethic of the crew that did the installation. Edit- they did come back and fix the shingles… and mailed us the little plastic track hole fillers for us to put on .
