Sand Dollar Customs is a Cape Cod general contractor working out of South Dennis, hired most often for kitchen and bathroom remodels, home additions, and whole-house renovation work. Its own site describes the firm as owner-operated, veteran-owned and locally owned, co-owned by Rob Warren, a retired Yarmouth police sergeant, and Steve Bobola, a retired United States Marine. The company carries an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration, number 193567, verified against the state registry with Sand Dollar Customs LLC as the holder of record. Building-permit records back that with volume: at least 66 permitted projects over three years, mostly home additions and multi-room remodels, with a typical permit value near $11,750. What homeowners praise is consistent across 28 reviews spanning 2019 to 2026. Google shows 4.8 stars from 35 ratings, and the recurring themes are cost predictability and communication. A 2024 reviewer on a primary bathroom said pricing was competitive with no surprises between the estimated and actual costs; a 2024 condo renovation was described as finishing within the anticipated timeline and agreed budget; a 2022 kitchen remodel stayed within budget with the subcontractors well managed. Insurance restoration comes up more than once. A homeowner in 2025 credited an in-house adjuster with securing substantially more funding from their insurer to complete a water-damage restoration, and a June 2026 reviewer said the company worked well with their insurance company on a one-story home renovation. Two owners living hours away, one two hours and one three, said the crew ran their basement and window projects with little oversight needed from them. The company also does roofing, siding, windows and decks. A 2024 reviewer described a full roof finished in a week at a fair price with a thorough cleanup; a 2022 reviewer had an 1880s home roofed. A 2020 Houzz review described an aging-in-place bathroom built as a zero-threshold wet room with grab bars and a widened doorway for future wheelchair access. One dissenting account is worth reading before you sign. In June 2019 a Houzz reviewer gave one star over a new-construction deal that never happened, saying they were pushed out over a financing decision and pressured to sign a purchase and sale agreement the next day without full cost information. It concerns the sales stage rather than the work itself, and it argues for getting the full cost breakdown in writing before committing. A few details differ between listings. The website claims 30 years in business while the BBB profile records the company as started in 2017 with nine years in business; BBB names Rob Warren as owner while BuildZoom names Stephen Bobola; and the business address varies between South Dennis, Yarmouth and South Yarmouth across directories. Ask which entity and address your contract will be written under, and confirm registration 193567 against the state registry yourself.

Rob, Steve and their amazing crew turned my crumbling old house into a thing of beauty. They did everything: roof, windows, siding, clapboard, chimney cap, bulkhead. They painted the porch, and repaired a door and screens - you name it. When the occasional problem arose, they fixed it with no hassle. Their office staff, especially Julie and Candi are so personable and efficient, they should be getting awards. I can't say enough good things about this company.
Sand dollar Customs was contracted to renovate our one story home from severe water damage. They worked well with our insurance company. Communications through their front office person could not have been better. Concerns were resolved in a timely manner. We are very happy with the final results. We wholeheartedly recommend them for your building projects.
Great company, great people. We highly recommend them.
Had SDC do my new kitchen cabinets and countertops ( AKA The countertop shop ). Fantastic work, always on time, everything as promised. I would recommend them to anyone for anything from small repairs to whole house (start to finish)!
My wife and I cannot put into words how much we loved working with Sand Dollar. We had an insurance claim for water damage that their in house adjuster was able to work with my insurance company and got us substantially more funding to complete the restoration than I was able to get on my own. From start to finish Rob, Steve, and Randi were in constant contact helping us decide the best way forward around the many issues that popped up. They didn’t just tell us to do something, they explained the how and why and gave multiple options when they could. They gave updated contracts and details as things changed so we were on the same page. The job site was cleaned up everyday and the sub contractors were all pleasant. This major renovation, as I’m sure all are, was a headache and came with unpleasant surprises but Sand Dollar smoothed the process over and made it bearable. After the main project, we used them to fix another contractors poor workmanship and we’ll be using them again for bathroom renovations in the near future.
