Secondwind Water Systems is a family-operated water treatment company based in Manchester, New Hampshire, that has been testing, diagnosing and treating residential, commercial and public water supplies since 1989. Homeowners hire the company for hard water, arsenic, PFAS, radon and other contaminant issues, and it describes itself as the region's only independent authorized Kinetico dealer. Across hundreds of reviews spanning more than a decade, the pattern is consistent: customers repeatedly single out named technicians — Greg, Patrick L., Mike F., Owen, Ron, Zach J. and others — for arriving on time, explaining the system and its maintenance clearly, and leaving the work area clean. Several reviewers describe multi-year relationships, including a customer since the 1980s and others citing 8 and 16 years with the company, and one property manager credits the team with installing a commercial arsenic filtration system at a manufactured-home-park water supply. Installers have also been credited with correcting work a previous plumber left unfinished during a system replacement, and with repairing a system another company had installed and wouldn't stand behind. In a 2023 news interview, the company's president described handling nearly a thousand PFAS tests and hundreds of PFAS remediation installs in one year as regional concern about contamination grew. The record isn't without friction. In an August 2026 review, a six-year customer described needing a third service call to resolve a problem introduced at an earlier visit, with the water reportedly still off afterward — worth asking about directly if you've had a prior service issue with them. In a 2022 review, a longtime customer described being quoted over $10,000 for an acid neutralizer, then an alternative radon-remediation system at $5,500, versus a $3,000 quote obtained elsewhere, with no follow-up response after raising it — it's worth getting a second quote before committing to a large system recommendation. A separate review otherwise praised the technicians but noted a reschedule pushed the appointment back two weeks. Overall, Secondwind is a long-established regional specialist that homeowners across most of New Hampshire and into nearby Massachusetts and southern Maine turn to for water-quality problems a general plumber wouldn't normally handle, particularly arsenic, PFAS, radon and hard-water treatment. Get pricing in writing before a major system recommendation, and ask how a repeat service issue would be handled if one comes up.

Been a customer for 6 years but no longer. This is the third call for service to return to fix a problem made during the initial service call. In this case, our water is now practically undrinkable. A glass of water tastes like drinking sea water. We can’t use our water to make coffee or anything else. Each time service visits requires you to take a half day off work then another half day for them to return and fix their mistake.
This group is so knowledgeable and responsive, especially Nate Clark. He truly sets the standard for professionalism.

SecondWind has been nothing short of phenomenal throughout our 8 years with them. After our recent move, we had them install a new water treatment and softener system, and we couldn’t be happier. From the top-of-the-line equipment and taking the time to walk us through our options, to the follow-up before and after installation, their customer service has been outstanding. A huge thank you to Mike and the entire installation crew for taking such great care of us. Highly recommend SecondWind!
McBrides installed a water softener system into our seasonal camp. This was a challenging install with very little space for a unit and near a pond, so environmental concerns had to be addressed. They came out a few times to determine a solution that would work for us. The install team were great and took the time to explain how the system works and how to maintain it. I highly recommend McBrides for your water system needs.
