Simple Solution Home Improvement & Repair Services is a Boston-area remodeling and repair company run by Joshua and his crew, working across a wide list of communities — including Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, Arlington, Newton, Medford and several other suburbs. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration is active and verified, and BuildZoom independently confirms the same license alongside a score of 94. The customer history here is unusually consistent: eight Google reviews spanning 2021 through August 2026, every one of them five stars. A kitchen renovation finished in August 2026 is described as professional and detail-oriented, with the crew closely following what the homeowner wanted. Further back, a 2025 review described hiring Joshua's crew again and again while renovating multiple units in Malden — wallpaper removal and repainting, vinyl flooring, new kitchen cabinets, and a leaking deck replaced. Other 2025 reviews call the work 'on time and on budget' with fair pricing, and praise prompt communication — showing up when promised, with a call or text ahead of every visit. A 2025 customer renovating a 1920s home called working with Joshua the best decision of the project, citing drywall patching, a bathroom heater installation, and a door replacement. Reviews going back to 2021 and 2022 describe the same pattern — reliable, reasonably priced, multi-talented work, with one customer in 2024 saying she felt comfortable throughout a process she wasn't familiar with and was happy with the outcome. Its own website also lists a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License number, though that one hasn't been independently verified the way the Home Improvement Contractor registration has. For a kitchen or bathroom project, a repair, or broader whole-home work in the Boston area, this is a company with a long, specific, and repeatedly positive history behind it — the main thing worth confirming up front is scheduling, given how in demand a small crew with this kind of track record tends to be.
We had a great experience with our kitchen renovation. The team was professional, dependable, and really paid attention to the details. They listened to what we wanted and did a great job bringing everything together. We’re really happy with how the kitchen turned out. The quality of the work is clear, and the whole process went smoother than we expected. Joshua kept us updated along the way and were easy to work with. We absolutely love our new kitchen and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor who does quality work and can be trusted.
Working with Joshua and his team was amazing. We hired him again and again after moving to Malden and renovating multiple units. He removed wallpaper and repainted, put in vinyl floors in the basement, put in new cabinets in the kitchen, replaced our deck that was leaking and so much more. Would highly recommend. We felt his prices were more affordable than other contractors.
My experience with Joshua and his crew was top notch! They did a great job, on time and on budget. Friendly, knowledgeable and very fair pricing. I highly recommend them!
Joshua was referred to me by a neighbor. From the start, he was a great communicator, came out quickly for an estimate, and sent the estimate promptly. He showed up when he said he would, always giving prior notice with a call and/or text. He and his crew did some repair work on our exterior windows. They always showed up when they said they would, did fantastic work and were very professional. Work took only a day and a half. I will absolutely be calling them again in the future, and would recommend them highly.
Working with Simple Solution/Joshua has been the single best decision in our total renovation of our 1920s home. Whether it was a project where we wanted Joshua's crew to dip in and out (they've patched drywall, installed a heater in our bathroom, replaced a door for us, and replaced our porch flooring) or where they managed the entire large project (a total kitchen gut), we couldn't be happier. Not only is Joshua incredibly organized, easy to reach by phone/text + is on site regularly, but he seems to know ALL THE THINGS. He brings this incredible breadth and depth of knowledge while also being one of the kindest humans I have ever worked with. Having Joshua in our home was truly a delight (and he loves pets!). My husband and I would say, 'we're going to miss Joshua!' each time a project would wrap up. The same goes for his crew. They were all incredibly kind and respectful. And then for the work itself - I had a vision for our renovations and was working on a budget. So I would brings layouts/ideas and often source materials myself (my preference). This might annoy another contractor, but Joshua embraced it completely. He would execute my vision but still offered suggestions/his expertise when he saw opportunities to be more efficient. He even invited us to go to his shop to see how they cut the countertops. For future big projects, I would lean on him even more from the start. But he really will take your lead on how much or little you want to be involved in the planning of a major project. Joshua's crew's work is also excellent. Like all major construction projects in old homes, we hit a couple obstacles and Joshua was always quick to find solutions. He always took pride in making sure the final product was perfect. There were things I was happy to live with where it was Joshua who would come in and say, no, let's do it this new way to make it perfect - at cost/time to him, never me. He is such a standup person. I trust his judgement and honestly often feel underbilled if anything. Big home projects are stressful. Supply chain issues threw off material availability, materials are increasingly expensive, etc. Joshua has always been the one variable in each project that is consistently a net positive. He'll make your house shine, and you might even enjoy the process because of him! Photos: Before/after of kitchen. Simple Solution did all demo, cabinet build/install, build out pantry, cabinet painting, appliance re-install, replaced door, and more. Porch: Floor demo and reinstall.
