SPG Painting

SPG Painting is Simon Gillick's Somerville, Massachusetts painting company, and its Google page carries something rare: 24 of its 24 quoted reviews are five stars, spanning three years of work from 2023 through 2026. The company's website says Simon has over 29 years of painting experience, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor license (#219241) is active on the state registry. Recent work shows the range: a June 2026 review describes one client having SPG paint the exterior, then the finished basement, then come back to revarnish cherry kitchen cabinets and a cherry-paneled library; a March 2026 review describes painting and major wall repair on a 3,200-square-foot condominium. Clients keep coming back — a 2024 review describes a Wayland homeowner hiring SPG for interior work after having the exterior painted a couple of years earlier, and a 2023 review describes a client who has had both the interior and exterior of their house painted twice. A 2025 review recounts SPG catching and fixing work a previous contractor had missed, and a 2024 review describes an interior job where Simon charged less than his original estimate after extensive plaster patching and repair. The record goes back further: a review recalls a kitchen painted in December 2021, and another recalls a full house repaint in 2019, choosing a color to complement the home's brick. The Better Business Bureau accredits the company with an A+ grade, and its website lists a Best of 2026 Somerville Award in painting; the website also states Simon has over 29 years of experience, though BBB's own profile separately lists the company at 5 years in business. SPG Painting is a strong pick for an interior, exterior or specialty finish job — cabinet refinishing, plaster repair, or a full repaint — anywhere in the Somerville area. Confirm the project scope and timeline up front, as with any painting contract.
