The Fuel Company is an East Falmouth home-comfort provider whose work spans heating and cooling, oil-furnace and boiler service, fuel delivery, plumbing, water heaters and filtration, ductless systems, and related home equipment. The BBB profile identifies it as a petroleum business with an A+ letter grade, while Google shows 4.8 stars from 181 ratings; the BBB profile says it has been in business 40 years and lists it as not BBB accredited. Recent Google reviewers describe prompt furnace troubleshooting, clear explanations, annual maintenance, water-heater repairs, mini-split tune-ups, and courteous office support. A January 2026 customer said a Christmas Day heating failure received a technician callback within 30 minutes and an on-site visit within two hours; a September 2025 review describes a water-heater repair completed within 24 hours. Longer-term reviews also document oil-to-gas conversion, oil-tank replacement, boiler and HVAC repairs, ductless AC installation, water filtration, gas lines, and plumbing. Reviewers repeatedly praise technicians for careful work, explanations, cleanliness, and follow-through. There are documented exceptions to that strong pattern. A May 2024 reviewer said the company could not take on a new air-conditioning customer, and a December 2021 reviewer said an emergency appointment was unavailable for two months. A March 2025 reviewer questioned whether furnace maintenance had been completed after the system remained noisy and the usual oil odor was absent. A November 2023 customer reported a delayed job and a basement door left open, but said the company apologized and made it right; a July 2025 billing concern was resolved when the quoted price range was honored. The company is a good fit for Cape homeowners seeking an established fuel, HVAC, plumbing, or water-system provider, especially for recurring maintenance and repairs. Before booking urgent or new AC work, confirm current capacity, response times, scope, and pricing in writing.
Prompt and friendly service as always
Today I noticed smoke (in June)coming thru my chimney this morning whilst working in my yard. I went to the basement and smelled something was off. I immediately shut off the boiler and waited for an appropriate time to call my landlord for further guidance on how to proceed. He proceeded to give me the green light to immediately call the fuel company and ask for service, being on the yearly maintenance plan. Every individual I spoke with thru out the day was compassionate and made me feel confident. In January 2026 I had scheduled a cleaning that unfortunately came with bad news. Our boiler is OLD ! Kinda old old. Cleaning was put off and the suggestion of a new boiler was suggested. Obviously a 12,000 to 16,000 was not on the bingo card that day or this current economic climate. Back to today. A service tech named Mike showed up in 30 minutes followed by another rep named Joe 10 minutes later, who apparently has been with the company for over 40 years, right!? Mike spent a moment assessing the situation. He's young, quiet but thoughtful. This is were it gets difficult because I don't know boilers or parts ect. He says he wants to inspect something after a moment, mind you, all he did was turn on the furnace. After 20 sec there's light smoke coming from somewhere, again, im not a boiler tech. He shuts it off and suggests looking at a specific part. I leave him be, because even I don't like someone looking over my shoulder and I'm just a landscaper, lol. He nailed it immediately. Apparently the part that sparks to start the boiler was covered in soot. I mean caked with soot. I was apprehensive after that, I honestly thought this was going down hill quick. He went to his truck with the part while Joe examined the boiler. Joe was extremely pleasant and made me feel at ease. He seemed like the older statesman so to speak lol, so I made it a point to not get in his way and let him do what he's put on this planet to do. Not much was said to me after that except for a warm gesture that gave me sense of confidence, he spoke with Mike in private and then left. After a good while, Mike showed me the part he cleaned and it looked shiny and new. Again,I started to feel a little comfortable with the situation. He must have spent almost 20 minutes cleaning to the point where it looked brand new, mind you, he was getting a bit dirty, Fingers crossed, I started feeling really confident. Going from smoke and oder to a young man smiling and heading to my bulkhead was the best feeling. Long story short, it worked! His assessment was spot on. He went thru a series of test in the basement, out the basement. Looking at the smoke coming thru the chimney, listening to the sound of the furnace, diligently working with a calm demeanor. Now here comes the kicker. I had yet to schedule my yearly cleaning because of my work and time restraints. It just isn't convenient for me to take time off this time of year. Low and behold he starts to dismantle the, I guess the exhaust pipe on top and proceeded to clean it out side and than does a full service cleaning unbeknownst to me! I was floored! I am besides myself. What began as a very uncomfortable/worrisome experience and doubt turned into, I can't put into words. To the front house on the phone, thank you for easing my fears. Thank you Joe for making me feel confident under the circumstances. To Mike, I wish you nothing but great things and a long and successful career. You are talented beyond your years. I've been with this company for well over a decade and two homes. You've been nothing but empathetic and calming thru trying times. Even the billing dept has been kind thru trying times. I have nothing but admiration and respect for all of you, and continue to look forward to your incredible service. Sincerely, Timothy Simpson 🙏
Edgar did a great job getting our oil furnace going again. He showed up promptly and explained his findings clearly.
