Value Construction is a Winthrop remodeling contractor run by Tony (BBB lists Vito Meola as general manager), and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor license is active and registry-verified; Angi also lists it as an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm. The written record on file runs 2009 to 2011 — every review here is from that period — and it's a genuinely mixed one: warm accounts of bathroom, kitchen and deck jobs sit alongside a handful of serious complaints. On the positive side, in 2009 and 2011 reviews, customers described Tony walking them through options without pushing add-ons, standing behind the finished work, and landing close to the original estimate on both price and timeline. A 2011 review of a full bathroom gut-and-remodel said the result "looks amazing," and a 2010 review described a deck built on a round pool that turned out well despite a slow start. Several reviewers from that period said they'd hire Value Construction again or already had for repeat work. The same written record holds real warnings, too. A 2011 review described grout and caulk failing just seven months after a new shower went in, calling the workmanship sub-par. Two reviews from late 2010 describe the crew missing scheduled start dates and disappearing rather than fixing mistakes — one says other professionals had to be hired to redo the work within a year, and another describes unpermitted work, a water leak that damaged a first-floor ceiling, and being billed for licensed tradespeople the reviewer says were never on site. A third 2010 review describes being treated as a low-priority "fill-in" job with poor communication between the owner and his crew, and an overpayment that was never refunded. Anyone hiring today should ask directly about permitting practices and get a firm start date in writing, given how often that's what the complaints turn on — and should weigh that the written record here, warm and warning alike, is now well over a decade old.
I loved these guys. The did a wonderful job.
Tony came in and gave me an estimate for my bathroom. He understood exactly what I needed and wanted to have done. He didn't try to push anything on me that I didn't want (like some of the others did in their estimates). I trusted him right from the beginning and new I would select his company. The guys came in and did their work. If there was something I didn't like they fixed it. Great job all around. And I was very impressed that it came very close to Tony's original estimate. Thanks for the wonderful job and I would definitely hire Value Construction again!
This was my first experience using a contractor for a major project and I was very happy with my choice of Value construction. Tony is an honest and equitable contractor who worked with us every step of the way. He understood our wants and needs and was helpful in instances when we needed guidance or advice. He clearly knows his business and is experienced with all aspects of the building trade. As per our contract he started the project on time and worked continually to make the whole process go as smoothly and quickly as possible despite a few setbacks that came up and were out of our control.
Very quick and clean, I would hire again.
Very good experience with Value Construction. It was a small project, but with lots of complications. Their customer service was awesome; they accommodated all my needs at a fair price.
