A homeowner who had hired someone else three months earlier — and spent every day since looking at crooked doors — called Serge Ivashkevich instead, and opened their July 2026 review saying they couldn't recommend Vessen Home Improvements highly enough. Doors run through the other write-ups too: a front entry door replaced in November 2025, with the customer calling the prices fair and the crew particular about the details, and a storm door in August 2023, where Sergey came out on the Monday after a Saturday message and swapped just the handle and lock instead of the whole door. Vessen is Sergey Ivashkevich's handyman and remodeling shop. Its own site places it in Medford and covers Middlesex and Essex counties, while Thumbtack and BuildZoom list a Waltham base; Thumbtack puts eight years in business behind it. The trade list is wide — drywall and ceiling restoration, painting inside and out, tiling, flooring, molding and trim, doors, and deck, porch, stair and patio work. The small jobs are where the care shows. A March 2022 Thumbtack customer had a light fixture moved to sit symmetrically in the room and said the patched hole was matched to their textured ceiling; a February 2022 customer had flush mounts installed and noted he came on a Sunday. In September 2023, a reviewer had an old basement drop ceiling taken out and a new drywall ceiling put up, with work starting a couple of days after they first met. A September 2024 customer described interior and exterior work over time — remodeling, decking and painting. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence, #206468, for the business; run it through the state register before you book. A good call for the punch list that needs a careful hand — doors that never hung right, a ceiling to redo, trim to match — and for the small remodel that follows. Ask who will be on site for your job, and get cost and labour adjustments in writing as they come up.
I can't recommend Vessen Home Improvements highly enough. Serge, the owner, was outstanding from start to finish. I contacted him after, unfortunately, hiring another contractor only three months earlier who did a sloppy job and left me looking at crooked doors every day. Serge and his team came in, replaced all of them, and the workmanship was outstanding. Our project involved replacing 13 interior doors (including 3 double door closets), and because our home has non-standard door sizes, it required extensive measuring and planning. Serge took the time to carefully measure everything multiple times and even researched the best sources to find the right doors rather than taking shortcuts. He also replaced a bathroom threshold and completed a few other projects, all with the same attention to detail. Throughout the project, Serge was exceptionally communicative, professional, and reliable. His crew was hardworking, respectful, quiet, and left the house clean at the end of each day. Most importantly, the quality of the workmanship was exceptional. Serge is a true perfectionist, and it shows in every detail. The doors fit perfectly, operate smoothly, and the finished product exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in his work, communicates well, and delivers outstanding craftsmanship, I would wholeheartedly recommend Serge and his team.
Highly recommend Vessen Home for sorting any home job and working around obstacles. Professional, communicative, and provide quality work. Very appreciated!
Serge and his team are amazing!! They recently replaced my front entry door and did an amazing job. I am now obsessed with it to say the least. Prices were fair and got the job done quick and efficiently. They were very particular in the details in which I appreciated very much. They cleaned up every thing and left no mess. Highly recommend Vessen Home Improvements for all your home improvement needs! Here are some before and after photos. These pictures just speak for themselves
