Window Restoration Cape Cod

Nancy Barrington came to this trade the long way round. A 2024 Provincetown Independent piece describes her as a former computer programmer who learned so much restoring the original windows in her own house that she started Window Restoration Cape Cod in 2015. The business runs out of 300 South Orleans Road in Orleans and works on old windows instead of replacing them: original wood and leaded sash on Cape houses built before roughly 1970, reglazed and repaired either on site or back in the shop, hardware included. Modern vinyl replacement windows are not part of the offer. The company states membership in the Window Preservation Alliance. If you own a pre-1970 Cape house with original sash that rattle, stick or have lost their glazing and you want to keep them rather than swap them out, this is the narrow kind of shop that does exactly that. Ask for the scope in writing — which sash, and how much is glazing versus wood repair and hardware — and whether each one is worked on site or taken to the shop, along with proof of insurance before the first window comes out.
