A whole-house attic fan that other businesses could not fix was repaired by Alternative Mechanical Services, according to a June 2022 customer. That homeowner also praised the quick appointment, on-time arrival and friendly service. A March 2025 commercial HVAC customer in New Britain praised owner Stan's equipment knowledge, but said the phone seemed disconnected and they had been trying to reach him for a year. A March 2022 homeowner described a different encounter at an estimate appointment. They said Stan called about arriving late, which they appreciated, but that he and a coworker left after being asked to cover their shoes before entering. The homeowner reported that Stan later said he did not want a job requiring that degree of covering and cleanup; the customer objected to his assumptions and conduct. The company's Connecticut HVAC credential HTG.0388695-D1 was expired at the October 30, 2026 registry check. The registry described ALTERNATIVE MECHANICAL SERVICES, LLC's credential as inactive due to non-renewal. Google showed 3.9 stars from 18 ratings on the same date.
Stan, the owner, is quite knowledgeable about HVAC equipment. Unfortunately, number seems to be disconnected. Been trying to get in touch with him for a year now. Use him for all my commercial HVAC needs in new britain, CT. Stan, if you see this, call me!!
They were able to set an appointment right away and came on time. They were able to fix my whole house attic fan and several other places were unable to do so. They were professional and friendly. I would recommend this business and call for services in the future. Thank you!
I don’t really understand how they can run a business as they do. They arrived late for our appointment which, I was not upset about because Stan called and was very responsive. I was very excited to meet them, unfortunately we made a simple request and asked that they cover their shoes while walking around the house for our estimate. Without word to us, Stan turned to his coworker and said ‘Let’s get out of here, these people are a waste of time.’ They then left and didn’t even come inside for the appointment. When I called to ask him what’s going on he said he doesn’t want to ‘deal with you type of people because that means we will have to clean-up after our mess, cover everything, and get a cleaning crew’. First of all making assumptions about someone you’ve never met is awful, secondly wouldn’t you clean up after yourself to begin with? I’m not leaving this negative review because Stan/Alternative Mechanical Services didn’t want to do our house, if he had looked at our house and decided it was beyond their ability, fine. I’m leaving it because he didn’t even try, made assumptions about me as a person, and was absolutely unprofessional.
