B.M. Holmes Plumbing & Heating is a Somerville plumber. One recent customer came to it after a very disappointing experience with a big plumbing company in town, and said Mac and his team were easy to communicate with and timely on their shower valve replacement. Its Massachusetts plumber license, number 9226-PL-M, is active on the state registry, with Brian Holmes as the holder of record. The company's website, goholmes.com, presents the business as Holmes Home Services, offering plumbing, heating, HVAC and kitchen and bath remodeling around Greater Boston, and says it is family-owned and has served the area since 1975. Its BBB profile lists a sole proprietorship started in 2010, not accredited, with an A+ grade. A recent customer said Jake explained the issue, walked them through what he was going to do, made sure everything worked properly and cleaned up afterward; that customer also said they didn't feel gouged on the price. A customer who had recently bought a condo said Mac did the consult and Jake did the actual job, and that Jake explained everything to them. A recent customer said Jake and Ethan explained the process in language a non-plumber could follow, and praised the setup of their valves and shower structures. A customer with years of experience with the company said it was called in to replace faucets about 22 years old that were not easy to replace, and also replaced all of their outside hose spigots. That customer said Jake and Frank worked for a few hours and the total cost came in lower than expected. A recent customer said the company installed a new vanity and faucet in their upstairs bathroom. A recent customer described a near total renovation of a bathroom, saying communication was clear from the initial evaluation through completion and that the company coordinated well with the other contractor on site. A 2026 customer said the company helped with a hose spigot replacement after a frozen pipe burst and helped install a vent hood and ducting over the stove. A 2025 customer said it replaced their aging tankless hot water heater on time and on budget. A 2025 customer said Mac showed up on short notice and fixed their shower in less than an hour. A 2025 r/Somerville commenter wrote, "I will forever recommend Mac & B. M. Holmes Plumbing!" A January 2026 r/bostonhousing commenter also recommended the company, saying they had used it more than once.

“We’ve been using [this guy](http://www.bmholmesplumbing.com/) for years.”
Jake and Ethan were amazing at the job, they are very knowledgeable and share the process and steps clearly in language that I (don’t know anything about plumbing) can easily understand and digest. They did a great job setting up our valves and shower structures! Will be hiring the team again if we need any plumbing expertise!
We bought a condo recently and needed some work done. We worked with Mac for the consult and then Jake for the actual job. Both were terrific. We couldn't ask for more honest, just good people. We especially appreciated Jake explaining everything to us. It educated us about the home and it also really impressed us - he knew a lot and was really good at explaining it. No question was a "dumb" question. Just great guys. Really glad to give them our business now and if we ever need plumbing or HVAC help in the future.
I found BM Holmes after a very disappointing experience with a big plumbing company in town. Mac and his team were a healing experience- easy to communicate with, timely and did great work for our shower valve replacement. I’ll definitely be using this company for future plumbing.
BM Holmes came and installed a new vanity and faucet in our upstairs bathroom. The crew were really friendly and great to deal with. I highly recommend them.
Great experience with BM Holmes for a near total renovation of a bathroom. From initial evaluation through to completion the communication was clear, work was executed promptly, and they coordinated well with the other contractor on site. I also appreciated the good suggestions for fixtures and other materials.
