Green Tech Plumbing & Heating runs a busy, wide-ranging operation out of Somerville — reviews come in from Cambridge, Medford, Charlestown, Malden, South Boston, even as far as Natick — and the same two names, Dave (also written David) and Hector, turn up constantly as the technicians people ask for by name. The through-line in hundreds of reviews is speed: a water heater replaced within hours of a Sunday-morning call, a gas leak found and fixed the same day no other plumbing company could get out, a mini-split fixed within an hour during a heat-wave AC failure, a no-heat call at night handled in 30 minutes with the part already on the truck. Some of the specific work goes beyond routine. In a 2022 review, a shower-valve leak that "many people could not figure out or did not want to deal with" got solved through persistence and a staged approach that started with the cheapest fix and escalated only when needed. In a 2021 review, a gas smell traced to a newly installed kitchen floor got tracked down with a leak detector and fixed on the spot, including two additional leaking valves found along the way. The recurring issue worth knowing about before calling is pricing, and it isn't a one-off. Across 2023 through 2026, a string of reviews describe flat-rate charges that felt out of proportion to the work: $1,200 to swap a part available for $48 at a hardware store (2023), a $975–$1,275 quote for a basic toilet install with no cost breakdown beyond "the iPad says $975" (2025), a $475 charge for a water-pressure issue the customer said wasn't actually fixed, a $300–$600 toilet quote that became $575 plus a $100 fee for what a reviewer called the simplest possible snake job, and a series of $100 "booking fees" charged across repeat visits for one unresolved water heater. One recent review describes paying $100 to diagnose an AC issue, then $300 more for maintenance, only for the system to fail again days later with no response to calls or texts. None of this is the majority of the record — the volume of fast, positive, detail-rich reviews is large and consistent across years — but the pricing pattern recurs often enough, and independently enough, that it's worth asking for an itemized quote and a firm number before work starts, especially on anything beyond a quick same-day fix.
Prepaid $100 to get them to show up to fix an issue with central air. Upon arrival they can’t find anything wrong but offer to perform maintenance for another $300, which we accepted. System begun failing shortly thereafter upon which they stopped answering calls and texts - despite pending heatwave and a baby in the house. Now claim there was no issue, no warranty on their work, and and they can’t come for several weeks even with full payment. Beware.
Great service on a maintenance visit for our mini splits. Responded quickly before the heat hit and we're sitting cool.
They came in and replaced my old mini split. They were quick to come over and get the estimate. Went right to work once the parts came in, fast and professional, right here in somerville. Safe bet to use these guys for your HVAC needs.
