Someone who buys and sells houses for a living is a hard customer to hold onto. A January 2026 reviewer who does exactly that wrote that BayState has done several jobs on their properties, works with them on pricing, and gets all of their siding and finishing work. BayState Home Improvement runs out of Hyannis as a full-service exterior and remodeling contractor — roofing, siding, windows, doors, decks and additions — with Hugo Dutra the name customers deal with. The Massachusetts registry carries home improvement contractor registration #217584 under Hugo Dutra, Angi lists the same trade licence number, and Thumbtack lists seven years in business plus a background check on Dutra. The exterior work is what people describe. A January 2026 homeowner had red cedar shingles installed and wrote about the craftsmanship and a crew that stayed respectful of the property. A May 2026 customer had a roof replaced and some basement drywall done, and said the cleanup was like they were never there. An April 2026 customer replaced old windows; an April 2026 Angi client had the job come in before deadline with spotless cleanup. A March 2024 Angi customer got an estimate and then a wooden fence around the yard, finished fast. They take the bigger jobs too — a November 2025 client had an addition put on their Cape house and said Hugo answered every question along the way. And when a job goes sideways, there's a June 2023 account worth knowing: a homeowner who expected a difficult roof said Hugo and the team kept them updated on the issues and the adjustments as they came up. Another June 2023 customer had a side of the house reshingled and got the options and a clear overview at the first consultation. A July 2023 client said they worked late to finish, and a January 2022 client had Hugo and Julio wrap the whole job in a day. Two older accounts pull the other way. In October 2022, a customer said the decking and rails were replaced satisfactorily, but the stairs built off the deck were not done correctly or as promised, were not stable, and several things were not completed properly — the customer wrote that he agreed to come back and fix them. In January 2023, another said the clapboard went on in a different wood than what was already in place, which had ridges, and that they had expected the sheetrock work to include the prep for painting. Both are quote problems as much as work problems. For Cape exterior work — a roof, cedar shingles, siding, windows, a fence — this is a fast, tidy crew with the owner in the conversation. Name the materials in the contract, write down exactly where the work stops, and if stairs or structural carpentry are in scope, agree up front how a callback gets handled.
