C&R Flooring is a Westwood shop that's been refinishing and installing hardwood floors under Chris Zizza's name for decades — the company says it's 37 years in, and Zizza's own resume includes being the first Bona Certified Craftsman in the country and the first in New England to offer dustless hardwood sanding, back in 2004. The trade press has taken notice more than once: a 2016 feature on woodfloorbusiness.com described a job so large — 20-foot boards for a client's car collection — it took three of Zizza's guys to rack a single plank. Zizza has also picked up a string of honors, including a 2013 Ellis Island Medal of Honor and a Boston Builders & Remodelers PRISM award the same year, largely for community giving rather than the flooring work itself. Customer reviews on Google run mixed. A 2026 review called a recent hardwood refinishing job great and said they'd recommend the team again, and a 2025 review from a repeat customer praised the dustless sanding process and called the finished product fantastic on every job. But a mid-2026 review complained the company was disorganized replacing an old linoleum floor and left a mudroom vinyl install uneven, adding a suspicion — unconfirmed — that the business had changed hands. Worth asking directly: who's actually running the crew on your job, and whether ownership has in fact changed since these accounts were written.
