In October 2024, a day apart, 1-star reviews landed on Houzz and BuildZoom, both about a new home that was never finished. Doors that don't close. Leaks — the toilet and shower in the Houzz account, three in the basement in the BuildZoom one. Paint chipping on the main door; no driveway, no yard, no walkway. The Houzz reviewer puts the damage at $60,000 and says they had poured their life savings into the house; the BuildZoom reviewer writes that as soon as they signed, he took the money and ran. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#153290) is active. BuildZoom lists Daniel Davis as the owner and shows one tracked permit for the business. If you are considering them for a build or an addition, ask directly about that 2024 complaint — what happened, and how it ended. Whatever you sign, tie payments to inspected milestones rather than calendar dates, hold retainage until the punch list is closed, and have a construction attorney read the contract before money moves.
