A tree came through another customer's roof in an April 2023 account. This June, a homeowner said they called KMC after firing the original contractor on their bathroom and kitchen remodel. The company says it opened in the summer of 2018 and describes itself as a design-build contractor working across Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, naming Lexington, Newton, Cambridge, Waltham, Arlington and Lowell on its own site. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #192652, is active on the state registry under Kyle Matthew Construction LLC; the BBB profiles the company in Whitman with an A+ grade and accreditation, and BuildZoom counts 106 permitted projects. Written accounts run from 2020 to this summer, across Google, Thumbtack and Angi. Thumbtack shows 4.8 stars from 47 ratings, Google 4.6 from 11. A group home wrote in March 2024 about a new back porch and new gutters, calling the crew flexible and the work beautiful. The customer with the tree damage credited Kyle and Cameron in April 2023 with a quick quote, help working with the insurer, and repairs to the roof, gutters, windows and some closets. A Thumbtack reviewer in January 2022 praised the communication on a basement renovation from design through build. Several reviews credit people by name — Kyle, Mel, Cameron, Keith, Max. Two accounts run the other way. A January 2025 Google review from a client who hired KMC in May 2023 to build a restaurant says the company received 90% of the project funds, did minimal to no work and failed to meet basic expectations. A September 2024 Angi review is a one-star "Do not hire this company!" Angi and HomeAdvisor each sit at 4.0 stars from four ratings, below Google and Thumbtack. Timing is worth raising too: the homeowner with the tree damage said it took some time. For a kitchen, bathroom, basement or insurance-driven rebuild in eastern Massachusetts, this is a registered general contractor with a long list of permitted residential jobs behind it. Before you sign, tie the payment schedule to completed milestones rather than a large share up front, and get the finish date and the name of whoever runs your job day to day in writing.
