Minglewood Homes is a Chatham-based construction company self-described as building on Cape Cod for the past three decades, founded in 1993 by owner Tim R. Smith, a Chatham native. The company says it focuses on historic home restorations, additions, and new home construction, alongside general remodeling and renovation work. The one detailed customer account on file, a 2020 five-star review, describes a full basement remodel and praises the finished bathroom, storage layout, flooring, and the quality of the doors, woodwork, plastering, plumbing and painting as "top notch." Google separately shows a 4-star average from 4 ratings. Building-permit records list 6 residential projects pulled in Chatham during 2023 - including a garage rebuild, a new dormer, and finished basements - typically valued in the $40,000-$95,000 range, consistent with the remodeling and addition work the company advertises. Directory reviews are otherwise thin - Houzz and BuildZoom both show zero written reviews for the business - so there isn't yet a broad customer history beyond BBB's A+ letter grade (the business is not BBB-accredited) and the one detailed review above. Licensing is also worth confirming directly: BuildZoom's own listing contradicts itself, showing a "Verified License" badge alongside a note that a license is "Not Required," and no state-registry verification turned up here - for structural additions and whole-house renovation work in Massachusetts, homeowners should ask to see current HIC/CSL registration directly. For homeowners on Cape Cod looking for historic-home restoration or a custom addition from a small, owner-run local builder, Minglewood Homes offers one strong documented account and an active recent permit history. It's worth a direct conversation about current licensing and references given how thin the public review count still is.
Tim Smith renovated our basement. He was impressive because as he walked around the unfinished basement he had a vision as to it what the end product would look like, I can tell you we never thought he could do as much as he did! He did a great job, lots of storage, basement full bathroom is light and airy, the work out area meets our needs, a project room where there is ample space. The flooring is a light gray, walls are light, the lightening is bright and useful. The quality of the doors, the woodwork, plastering, plumbing, and painting were all top notch. Just wanted to share.
