Morgan and Son

Morgan and Sons is a Cape Cod design-build shop working out of West Chatham, and the through-line is building rather than repair. The company says Ben Morgan started it in 2005 and that it takes on new custom homes, kitchen and bath remodels, window replacement, decks and hardscape, managing subcontractors from design through completion. The permit trail is small and it is all one property. BuildZoom shows three residential building permits at a single Harwich address — a new house in July 2023, a one-car garage addition that November, and a 14-by-16 deck in August 2024 — and one of the two project galleries on its Houzz page is titled "Cedar Street new construction, Chatham, MA." That is the shape of a builder taking a handful of large jobs at a time, not a high-volume remodeler. No homeowner has written about them. Both the Houzz and BuildZoom profiles show zero reviews, with Houzz still inviting the first one, so there is no account anywhere of how a Morgan job actually ran, how the schedule held, or what it cost. The BuildZoom Score of 90 on that page counts permits filed, not customers. Credentials need a careful read. The company's own site describes itself as a licensed home improvement contractor, licensed construction supervisor and licensed hoisting engineer, and BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #184620, which the directory says it checked as active in March 2026. None of those has been confirmed against the state registry here — they are the company's own statements and a directory's. The service area is worth knowing up front: the company states Chatham, and Houzz shows a Cape Cod radius around Chatham, Harwich and Orleans. If you are planning a custom home, an addition or a deck on the Lower Cape, this is a plausible call — but with nothing published from past clients, ask for references and addresses from the Harwich and Chatham work, and check all three licence claims with the state yourself before you sign anything.
