New England Radon, based in Salem, NH, says it's been testing and mitigating radon in water and air since 1986, and Better Business Bureau's own listing corroborates that it is a nearly 40-year-old company — an unusually long run for a niche trade most homeowners only think about once, during a home sale or inspection. But the record splits badly on Google. Of the 14 written reviews on file spanning 2021 to 2026, roughly half are pointed complaints, and a specific type keeps recurring: inflated pricing for what should be small jobs. One customer was charged $635 to add an elbow joint to an outdoor pipe — "absolute robbery," they called it. Another paid $395 just to have someone come look, another says a fan had simply been switched off by mistake and they were still billed hundreds of dollars for a five-minute fix, and one long-time customer says their service-call price more than doubled with no real explanation before they switched companies. A 2025 review adds a separate concern — a driver reportedly hit a parked vehicle on a job and the company disputed responsibility rather than sharing insurance information. Reliability comes up too: a 2026 review describes an appointment rescheduled four times over a multi-month stretch, and a 2026 review describes an installed system that turned out ineffective because of the site's high water table — something the company reportedly explained only after the job was already done. Set against that, several reviewers who had a straightforward installation came away satisfied. A 2022 review credits the installer, Eduardo, with a thoughtful pipe-routing plan that kept the system out of finished space and a clean job site; another from the same period describes a same-day quote, an on-time install, and a final price that matched what was quoted. A couple of shorter reviews call the company efficient and easy to work with, and one describes using them repeatedly over time. Two New Hampshire radon licenses — a mitigation-provider license and a mitigation-system license — are on file per Better Business Bureau, both showing a November 2026 expiration; that's the directory's record, not an independent state-registry check. The company is also Better Business Bureau A+ accredited, a rating that sits oddly next to the repeated pricing and scheduling complaints on Google. Before booking, it's worth getting a firm, itemized price up front for anything beyond the original quote — several reviewers say costs grew unexpectedly after the initial visit — and asking directly how a return trip for scheduling or equipment issues would be handled.
Stay far away. Equipment malfunctioned and they failed to take responsibility. The equipment never worked and they will not honor the warranty, and wasted our time with multiple reschedules. We were left waiting with no communication. Communication is ineffective between the staff and manager/owner. They are happy to install and bill, but if anything goes wrong they will leave you high and dry. They once tried to charge us 750 for a light bulb replacement even though the system was broken. We have experienced a good deal of lost time, and frustration and despite investing thousands in a system, we don't have one that works.
Do not recommend! Installed system then explained it likely would be ineffective due to high water table after the fact. Radon level stayed the same. I called back and was put off for appointments, which turned out to be a good thing because they charge $395 to come out. Update: your response is untrue. You’re either misinformed or comfortable lying, as I’ve found with the rest of the staff at your establishment. 👎🏻
If you are looking for a company that reschedules their appointments 4 times, look no further. Trying to get them to show up and honor an appointment has been a multiple month long journey that still has no end in sight. I have never had a single company reschedule any type of appointment this many times in my entire life. So in some aspect they are the best at something... not being reliable.
Do not trust the drivers around your vehicles!! One of the drivers named Matthew Collin's hit my vehicle and they tried to blame it on me. They wouldn't give me their insurance information and got angry with me for trying! I recommend you avoid this dishonest company, but if you call them out to your home, make sure your cars are nowhere near them!
They came to move put an elbow on the outdoor pipe so that 6 inch gutters could be installed... couldn't quote over phone, even after providing pictures etc.. They show up, 1.5 hours later, with a new elbow joint and a new manometer... $635.00.. Absolute robbery... look elsewhere...
