Omega Home Inspections is a one-inspector home-inspection company on Boston's North Shore, and every account of it points at the same person: Stu Cummings, who does the inspection himself and writes the report. Buyers repeatedly describe a background in architecture and engineering shaping how he reads a house. What people who hired him praise is consistent across five years of accounts and rarely about the paperwork alone. In a July 2020 review, a first-time buyer said an 1,155 sq ft townhouse inspection was methodical and never felt rushed, and that from first call to completed inspection took three days. In a March 2020 review, another buyer had a 2,400 sq ft duplex — basement, garage and attic included — inspected in under three hours. In a March 2021 review, a new-construction walkthrough produced a punch list detailed enough that the builder agreed to fix paint, caulking smears and baseboard and floorboard scratches the owner would never have flagged. He is described as an educator as much as an inspector. A September 2020 review from someone who had inherited an 80-year-old house said he explained how systems worked, sent specific tradespeople for each issue, kept answering questions after the job, and even assessed the abutting properties for problems that could reach the house. A December 2020 first-time buyer said the fee was well below what they had been quoted elsewhere, and several others mention price flexibility for first-time buyers. Two things to keep in view. The written record is dated: the most recent account is from July 2024 and the bulk of it comes from 2020 and 2021, so it describes how he worked then rather than how the business runs today. And the same reviews appear on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, which mirror each other — the totals shown across those two sites count the same customers twice. The Better Business Bureau grades the business A+, which is BBB's own assessment and not customer feedback. If you are buying an older North Shore house, a condo, or a new build and want an inspector who will walk you through what he finds rather than hand over a PDF, this is a well-documented choice. Ask for his current Massachusetts home-inspector licence number and confirm it with the Board of Registration of Home Inspectors, and ask for a sample report and a couple of 2025-2026 references before booking.

I cannot recommend Stu enough. He was incredibly responsive in making an inspection happen on short notice on the week of a holiday. At the inspection itself, he was thorough, thoughtful, and helped answer every question we had (no matter how silly!). I will be recommending Stu to all friends and family moving forward and will happily use Stu again if the situation calls.

Stuart is professional, thorough, responsive and very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of our questions throughout the inspection and we left feeling like we had a great understanding of the home we're buying. As for the inspection report itself, I intend to reference it for months and years to come as I prioritize improvements. Stuart was also able to turn the report around quickly to accommodate the timelines of our purchase. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in need of home inspection services.

$400. Stuart from Omega Home Inspections was great to work with! He was incredibly accommodating, responsive, and reliable! He did a walk through of my new construction and generated an incredibly useful report and was extremely thorough! Thanks to Stuart, the builders are going to fix paint, caulking smears, and baseboard and floorboard scratches I would have never thought to point out! Extremely happy with my decision to hire Stuart from Omega Home Inspections! (Complete Home Inspection)
