- Roof emergency — came right out on time, per a 2019 review
SMITH Contracting is a roofing and gutter contractor with 5 stars from 3 Google ratings; on Angi it describes itself as specializing in roofing installations, replacements and repairs. In a 2019 Google review, a customer said Blaine and his crew replaced all their gutters and downspouts. That customer said Blaine gave them options to save money by re-using the gutters on the back of the house, that fascia replacement was left out of the quote and would be a separate charge only if needed, and that he kept them informed of the schedule. In another 2019 review, a customer said the scheduling and installation of their roof went smoothly, that the work was completed as planned despite rain, and that Blaine dealt with the issues left from the last roof installation. A separate 2019 review describes a roof emergency, saying he came right out on time and explained every step of the way.

We had all our gutters and downspouts replaced by Blaine and his crew. I totally appreciate that Blaine gave us options on saving money on replacing the gutters on the front of the house and re-using the gutters on the back of the house since they were still in good shape. We ended up going with the replace all estimate. His quote also did not include replacing fascia as needed which we liked a lot. None of the fascia boards needed replacing, so his pricing wasn't inflated compared to the other roofing companies that gave us estimates. We were told upfront that if the fascia boards need replacing, then a separate charge would be determined based on how much needed to be replaced. We are happy with the job Blaine and his crew did for us. He kept us informed of the schedule and we are glad to have new gutters and downspouts.

Communication was great. The scheduling and installation of our roof went smoothly. Work was completed as planned despite mother nature interferring (rain). Blaine dealt with all the issues left from the the last roof installation. I highly recommend this company.

What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from SMITH Contracting. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
