Stephen Navarro Painters is a Newton-based, locally owned outfit whose reviews describe far more than paint — snow and ice-dam removal, water-damage recovery, carpentry, floor refinishing — with a spotless 15-review, five-star record stretching back to 2021. One thing worth knowing up front: the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration on file for Stephen Navarro, the registry's holder of record, is expired. In back-to-back February 2026 reviews, Stephen and his crew responded to winter emergencies — clearing snow and breaking up ice dams on a Sunday before serious water damage set in for one customer, and for another, arriving within two hours of a call to clear a leaking, ice-dammed roof, then explaining what caused it and what to watch for going forward. A December 2025 review described an even more urgent call: a washing-machine overflow that collapsed half a living-room ceiling three days before Christmas. Stephen was on-site assessing the damage the next morning, and the repair was finished so cleanly the homeowner said you couldn't tell where it had been. Painting itself gets the same level of description. In an August 2025 review, Stephen repainted and repaired the interior and exterior of a 1905 Newton home, including refinishing floors and repairing plaster left by old knob-and-tube wiring removal, and finished ahead of schedule. In a September 2024 review, a customer who'd had several rooms painted years earlier — including natural wood doors and trim refinished — came back for a full exterior repaint that turned into a bigger carpentry job: steps, railings, and porch doors replaced and rehung. A 2021 review described him coordinating with a roofer to trace a water-damage source and bringing in an electrician to remove fixtures before painting, then holding off so woodwork could dry properly ahead of a move-in date. The Better Business Bureau gives the business an A+ grade, though it isn't BBB-accredited; the BBB page states 15 years in business, while the company's own site claims 36 — the two sources disagree and neither can be verified against the other. More importantly, ask directly about the expired state registration before signing anything. For interior or exterior painting, especially a job that turns into carpentry, plaster, or storm-damage repair along the way, the written reviews describe a genuinely careful, responsive operation — just confirm the licensing situation first.
Stephen and his team came on a Sunday to remove snow and deal with ice dams before we had too much damage inside the house. I would highly recommend his services. He is knowledgeable and has been in this business for a long time. His work is thorough and he is a really nice person who knows what he’s doing. You will be in excellent hands if you use his services.
My roof was leaking due to all of the snow and ice dam formations. Stephen and his team come out right away to clear the snow off of my roof and break up the ice damns within 2 hours of my call. They made a stressful situation a lot easier to manage with their quick response and clearance of the snow from the roof. He also provided a helpful explanation of what caused the ice dams and what to watch out for going forward. I also appreciated the care that his team took as I also have solar panels on the roof. While I hope the weather permits and doesn’t require roof snow removal in the future, I know who to call if it does and I’ll definitely be using his company for other services like painting going forward.
Stephen Navarro really came through in an emergency. Our upstairs washing machine overflowed, soaking the floor below: half our living room ceiling collapsed three days before Christmas. Steve was at our home the next morning to assess the damage, and his crew was here a short time after. They were thorough, clean and professional, and completed the job the next morning. The work they did was exceptional. We can't even tell where the repair was made. Highly recommended.
Highly recommend. We had a great experience with Stephen and his team. Their work is excellent — the attention to detail shows in every part of the job. They were dependable and very pleasant to have in our home. They painted our entire interior and I really appreciated how clean and tidy they kept everything. We’re thrilled with how it all turned out.
Fantastic crew very capable and cooperative. I would highly recommend Stephen Navarro painting and contracting. They did 2 jobs for me over the past month and we are very pleased with their attention to detail. The 2 houses they painted for me came out absolutely superb.
