William Earle & Son is a Newton painting company with roots back to 1925 — founded by Joseph William Earle and now run by third- and fourth-generation family members, Jacquie and her children. Eighteen reviews on file are unanimously five stars, though the state's home improvement contractor registration on file for the business is currently expired. In the most recent review, from May 2026, a homeowner called the owner Robert "a gentleman throughout the entire process" and described the crew as "skilled, respectful, meticulous and deeply conscientious." A November 2025 review described a similarly hands-on experience — the company showed up when promised, communicated well, kept a clean site, and worked with the homeowner on the details. Beyond straightforward painting, several reviews describe real repair work along the way. A September 2025 review described hiring the company before moving into a new home to repair cracks in the walls, ceiling and closets, then repaint. A 2023 review recounted discovering two areas that needed carpentry mid-job, which the crew "handled quite admirably" — the same customer's second job with the company in 23 years. Another 2023 review listed a shed roof and screens repaired alongside the paint job, and a 2024 review described damage found before painting being repaired beautifully. One reviewer, after 25 years in the same Newton house and several previous repaints, called this the best housepainting job they'd ever had; another appreciated that the crew used a brush and roller rather than a sprayer. The one fact worth confirming before booking: the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration tied to William Earle & Son is currently expired. For a painting job that's likely to turn up real repair work along the way — cracked plaster, rot, an old shed roof — this is a crew reviewers describe handling it as carefully as the paint itself. Just ask about the registration status first.

We could not be more pleased with our experience with William Earle And Son, LLC. Robert was such a gentleman throughout the entire process and his beyond wonderful crew were exceptional craftsmen — skilled, respectful, meticulous and deeply conscientious. The exterior of our 1962 MCM home was beautifully painted. Our front door was carefully sanded and stained, restoring warmth and richness to the wood in a way that completely transformed the entrance to our home. What especially impressed us was the care taken even after the project was complete. During the final walk around, Robert noticed that the light fixture beneath the front garage eave still bore traces of paint from prior inferior work. Without hesitation, a member of his team returned the next day unbeknownst to us to meticulously restore and refinish the fixture to its former glory. That level of pride, integrity, and attention to detail is rare. This was a truly phenomenal experience from beginning to end. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Extremely professional company that delivered on service and quality. They are a pleasure to work with; communicate well, show up when promised, excellent quality, work with you, accommodating, and keep a clean site. The crew painting our house was great. They are the "experience" you want. And in terms of the service and quality received their price was well worth with.
I first worked with William Earle & Son LLC in fall 2024 before moving into my new home that needed a lot of help/upgrades. After researching a number of companies, I settled on WE to help me repair cracks in walls, ceiling, and closets and repaint. They also refinished my hardwood floors bringing new life to floors that needed a lot of TLC. The crew did an amazing job so when I needed more repairs (exterior and interior) I did not hesitate to call WE. They were just as efficient and did a fantastic job repairing the hole in my ceiling where a wood stove pipe had gone through. I can't recommend them enough.
Robert and team were exceptional -- responsive, kind, professional, timely, strong work ethic, and great overall work. Highly recommend!
Wow. Excellent painters, excellent service, Robert is on top of it all, and there is joy in this work. Could not be happier.
