Tatra Building Company's customers describe work ranging from air-conditioning service to rebuilding a home. The South Yarmouth company says it began in 2005 and offers building and remodeling alongside plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, generators and backup power, outdoor living projects, fireplaces, kitchens and bathrooms, and flood and fire restoration. A July 2024 BuildZoom reviewer called about an air conditioner blowing warm air. Office manager Brian offered an appointment by 1 p.m. that day; two service people arrived around 11:30 a.m. The customer praised their patience and thoroughness while they were still working on the unit. A May 2024 Angi customer described air-conditioning heat pumps installed on two floors, praising punctuality, consistent work and a clean, quiet crew. An October 2024 customer described central-air installation, boiler replacement, appliance installation in older construction, an outdoor shower and stone deck complex, plumbing repairs, and gutter and yard-drainage improvements at multiple homes. The larger building projects brought both praise and complaints. In August 2015, an Angi customer described remodeling two bathrooms and a kitchen, plus installation of support beams in the roof and walls. They praised the craftsmanship and Jan's crew, while calling the work somewhat expensive. An October 2013 customer described a 275-square-foot, four-season addition involving excavation, foundation work, carpentry, electrical work and HVAC. That customer praised Jan's integration of the addition with the existing house and coordination of subcontractors, but described the crew's interior finish painting as only average. A June 2020 BuildZoom reviewer gave a different account of a home rebuild. The customer alleged it took over two years, promises went unmet, extra charges accumulated and inadequate worker supervision caused work to be redone. The reviewer also alleged the contractor did not perform the work himself and hired unskilled workers. Those are the customer's allegations, rather than established findings about the company. Tatra's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. The company's website describes NATE, EPA and lead-safe qualifications for named staff; those are its own statements. Angi reports a 4.8-star average from 13 ratings, while BuildZoom reports four stars from three. In a February 2009 Angi review, a customer praised hardwood floor refinishing at a fair price.
