Wood Star Flooring's calling card, across dozens of Cape Cod reviews from 2021 through 2026, is matching new wood into old floors so well that homeowners can't find the seam — a 22-year-old prefinished hardwood tied into a new kitchen floor in a December 2022 review, a 25-year-old white oak floor blended and extended through a whole first floor in a May 2026 review. The company, founded in 2018 and run by Alex and Mels (with Sasha and others on the crew), says on its own site it has installed over 250,000 square feet of Cape Cod flooring; it installs, refinishes, and does stair, deck, and luxury vinyl plank work out of Centerville. The written history is unusually deep — 82 reviews on file, every one five stars, with 8 posted in just the last six months. The same names and the same praise recur year after year: Alex's communication and walkthroughs from quote to follow-up, technical explanations from Mels (one 2022 review specifically calls out the two-part catalyzed varnish finish the company uses), and crews that keep to schedule even on tight timelines — a January 2026 review describes fitting a customer's move into a narrow window after doing the same customer's floors the year before, and a 2022 review describes finishing a new-construction install under a hard moving deadline. Several reviewers describe decades-old floors — 14, 17, 22, even 25 years old — refinished back to new condition, and one 2021 review, written three years after the job, confirms the red oak floors installed at a summer cottage still show no gaps or wavering. Other jobs on file include water-damage repair with board and subfloor replacement in a July 2025 review, and a porch refinished ahead of a wedding in an October 2025 review. There's no negative account here to weigh against that pattern. The one place to ask a question is scope: a June 2023 review mentions windows and doors installed alongside flooring work, which isn't the norm across the rest of the history, so it's worth confirming directly what's included rather than assuming it's a standard offering. For hardwood work anywhere on the Cape — new installs, refinishing, or blending new wood into an existing floor — this is a well-established, highly consistent local operation with an unusually long and detailed written history behind it.

Had a great experience with Alex and Mel. They have a high level of communication which is very appreciated. Alex walks through the whole process from on site quote to post project follow ups. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, professional and thorough. Their pricing was very competitive. Also appreciate the cleanup efforts. There was very little dust after a full strip and refinish. Thank you for a great experience!
i had Alex install vinyl wood plank and it came out great. He was very professional and showed up on time.
Mels, Alex and Alex did an excellent job refinishing a 25 year old white oak floor and extending/blending it with a new floor through our home's first floor. After 25 years living on the Cape, their service and attention to detail was among the top contractors we have found. They met a tight deadline for us, starting work shortly after our initial meeting, finishing right on schedule. After trying several samples, the finish product/color that was recommended turned out just as we hoped. I highly recommend WoodStar for any flooring project - they are honest, hardworking, efficient, detail-oriented, responsive and reasonably priced. The pride they take in a job well done truly shows!
Working with Alex and his team at Wood Star was the best home renovation experience I’ve ever had. Alex is a true expert and his advice was always spot on. He and his team were always responsive, polite, and considerate and the quality of their work was outstanding. The job was done on time and final cost matched the original estimate exactly - and pricing was very reasonable. Most importantly, the end result is fantastic and we’re now enjoying the beautiful Hickory hardwood floors throughout our home as well as the matching stair treads and trim. Alex & Mels did a tremendous job on our floors! They were responsive, knowledgeable, and honest. Their prices are fair and their craftsmanship is excellent. Their customer service during the whole process was outstanding. They returned calls & texts and showed up on time. They started when they said they would and finished early. And they cleaned up afterwards. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!
