Over the past decade, I have contracted Duffy Construction for three major remodeling projects at my home away from home on Cape Cod. The first project Duffy Construction completed for me was a redesign and major interior remodel that transformed the cookie cutter 1400 sf cottage I had just acquired into a charming and cozy Cape Cod home with authentic interior and exterior details. Two bathrooms were completely reconfigured and updated with custom design elements (custom tiles, walk in shower, teak cabinets and wainscoting) and the interior layout of the first floor (living area, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom) was changed for better flow and optimal space utilization. The heating system was converted from electrical baseboard to forced air and central AC was added to the system. The kitchen was updated and reconfigured. Hardwood floors were installed throughout the entire house, doors and windows were added/replaced, and custom trim and baseboard was installed on all interior doors, windows, floors and on the exterior doors. The upstairs bedrooms were also reconfigured for space. Further, major updates were made to interior plumbing and the electrical system. Shortly after completion of this project I contracted Duffy Construction for an exterior remodel that replaced and upgraded the existing exterior decking. A larger deck was attached to the backside of the house, the access door was replaced and redesigned, drainage and weather sealing improved. An outside shower stall and a large seating area were seamlessly integrated into the design of the new deck. The third project, completed recently, was a combined exterior and interior remodel. New cedar siding with custom Cape Cod detail was installed, the roof refinished, and exterior trim repaired. Large dormers were installed on the front side of the house and the upstairs bedrooms were made larger by moving the front/rear walls to utilize previously unused crawl space. All windows on the front and on both sides of the house were replaced, two standard bay windows were replaced with custom boxed out windows with custom cedar shingle roofs. To say that the transformation of the house was dramatic would be an absolute understatement. I highly recommend Duffy Construction to anybody who is interested in designing a true and authentic Cape Cod home and work with a general contractor who is absolutely reliable and does quality work with commitment and pride. Brian takes a lot of time to talk to his clients. He doesn’t start a project until he is sure he understands what you want and that he can deliver. Over the course of my three projects, Brian has saved me a lot of pain and money by always finding the best solution for my design ideas. Countless times he – politely but firmly – told me what NOT to do, only to always find a better way to get me where I wanted to be. Brian is a wonderful craftsman. The quality of his own work is impeccable and when and where his own skills don’t meet his sky high standards he will only ever work with top notch subcontractors. Brian has always executed my projects on time and perfectly on budget, even under the most challenging conditions (such as a global pandemic). He is a passionate expert on authentic Cape Cod design and tastefully executes such designs both on the inside and the outside of your home. Brian pays attention to the smallest detail and communicates with his clients in a very effective manner which greatly benefits clients who, like I, don’t live in close proximity to their construction projects. Duffy Construction will always be my point of first contact for all future construction work.
